NOW – Good Intentions
The Apocalypse angels are messing with Jack’s head. They make him believe that Sam and Dean are trapped in a fire. He tries to use his powers to open the door, but can’t. Michael and Zachariah (Chad Rook) watch over Jack. Michael asks if Jack is powerful enough to get them to the other world. Zachariah says he can open a rift big enough for their army. Michael says if Zachariah can’t break Jack, he knows something else that will.
They try again putting Jack next to a lake with Castiel. Cas tells Jack that humans are destorying the earth. He says humans have good intentions, but never appreciate the gift they were given. Cas says Jack has the power to save everyone.
Jack asks about Sam and Dean. Cas only says that they taught him to fear his power. Cas will guide Jack on how to use his power and not be afraid of it. Jack realizes that none of this real. He says he remembers what happened. He knows Cas isn’t real. Zachariah release him from the vision. Michael throws Jack across the room. He says it’s time to do things his way.
Michael drags Jack to Mary’s room. Mary knows who Jack is as soon as he says his name. He tells her how he got to that world, but Sam and Dean are not with him. Mary is thankful for that. Jack tells her that he tried to fight, but Michael got in his head. Mary admits that Michael is in her head too. She says Michael wants to find a way to get his army to their world. Jack realizes that Michael wants to use his power to open a door. He says he won’t help. Mary says it’s Michael’s plan to hurt her to make Jack use his power. Or he will kill her.
Mary tells Jack to let Michael kill her. She doesn’t want him to open the door to their world. Jack says he won’t let her die, he wants to help her escape. He can’t use his powers though. He says his headache is keeping him from using his power. Mary has a headache too. They think there’s a ward on the place. Mary says her headache goes away the closer she is to the window. Jack touches the window and is able to use his powers to melt the bars.
Cracking the Code
Donatello continues to work on translating the Demon tablet, but it’s overwhelming. Cas takes a plate of food to Donatello and can tell that he’s distressed. Donatello says the tablet has raw energy and power he’s never seen. He says he’s making progress, so Cas leaves.
Sam is concerned about Dean. He’s eating a big plate of bacon. Cas comes in and tells them that Donatello is hard at work. He is concerned about finding Lucifer. Dean says they have all the Hunters looking for him. Cas then asks what they do about Michael. Dean goes over their plan. As soon as Donatello finds a way to open the gate, they will go in, get Jack and Mary and get out. Easy peasy, right?
Donatello cracks the spell . He gives Sam a list of ingredients to do the spell. They have almost everything they need, but two hearts belonging to Gog (Michael Jonsson) and Magog (Andre Tricoteux) , Canaanite warriors who are trapped in a place without a place in a time without a time. Cas and Dean volunteer to go find them. Sam and Donatello gather the ingredients in the bunker.
Dean is ready to leave and finally asks Cas if he’s okay. Cas has been thinking about why he was brought back. He says he hasn’t protected Jack, Lucifer is back and Michael is coming. Maybe Cas was brought back to prepare for war. Dean says they will do whatever it takes to help.
They get to the place to meet the Canaanites. Cas gives Dean an angel blade and recites a spell. Two large men with swords show up. Dean starts laughing because they are dressed in loincloths. The Canaanites argue because one of them interrupted the other. Then they say they are going to kill the pretty one first., but which one is prettier? Cas or Dean? They decide to kill the small one first.
A fight ensues. The angel blades are destroyed by the warrior’s sword. These warriors can only be killed by a blade forged by God…or touched by God. Dean is able to get one of their swords and cuts off the head of the first guy. He stabs the second guy, saving Cas. Cas discovers that these warriors are not human. They are made up of rock and sand…so these guys don’t’ have hearts. They speculate that Donatello gave them the wrong information.
Dean calls Sam to check in. Donatello intercepts the call, sending it to voicemail. He takes a bottle and bashes Sam over the head.

Defender of the People
Michael find Mary’s room is empty. He sends the angels out to find them and instructs them to kill Mary in front of Jack. He warns Zachariah not to fail him again.
Jack and Mary make their way to a crossroads where they meet Bobby Singer (Jim Beaver). He calls Mary by her maiden name and says he thought she was a ghost. In the Apocalypse world, Mary is dead. Bobby asks about Jack and Mary says he’s a friend of the family. Bobby is cool with that and takes them back to his camp. She tells Bobby that Michael is looking for them. Bobby says his camp is well guarded.
Jack makes shadow puppets for the kids while Bobby and Mary talk. Bobby says, in his world, Mary didn’t make the deal with a demon to save John Winchester. So he died and the boys were never born. Mary tells him that she made the deal in her world. She says it brought her boys a lot of pain, but Sam and Dean stop the Angel war. Bobby tells her that she did good by her boys. They tried to convince him to return with them to their world. He declined because his world needs him. Her world has Sam and Dean…this world has Bobby. (Why can’t we have both!?)
Bobby asks about Jack again. Mary admits that Jack is nephilim. Bobby gets upset and wants Jack gone first thing in the morning. Mary says if Jack has to go, then she does too. Bobby is okay with that. He says they thought the angels were on their side when the war started. One by one they turned on them. Jack will turn too.
The next morning, Jack tells Mary that he really likes Bobby’s camp. Mary tells him that they have to go. He knows it’s because of him. An alarm goes off, signaling that the angels are attacking. Jack and Mary run into the woods and run into Bobby. Bobby says the angels found them because Jack used his powers. He asks Mary to get the kids out of the camp. Mary tells Jack to find someplace to hide. They can’t let the angels find him.
Jack runs but hears people screaming. The angels are killing them. Zachariah finds Mary and demands to know where Jack is. She won’t’ tell him, so he decides to kill her. Jack stops him. Zachariah tells Jack to enjoy watching Mary die. Jack uses his power on Zachariah and he explodes. Bobby arrives saying more angels are coming. Jack uses his power to blow them up too.
An Angel’s Promise
Dean and Cas return to the bunker and find the place in shambles. Sam is nursing the hit to his head and shows them what happened to Donatello. (The Muppet Professor attacked you!) Sam was able to lock up Donatello in a room. Donatello is talking gibberish. They tell Sam about the heartless Canaanites. Cas says Donatello wants them dead.
They tie up Donatello. He says he translated the entire tablet and saw the power of God. He thinks they want his powers. The Winchesters insists that they want to help him. Donatello makes Dean stop breathing. Sam removes Dean from the room and Cas meets them. Dean is okay when he gets into the hall.
They examine Donatello’s work to try and figure out why he went psycho. Dean says that Kevin Tran translated a demon tablet and he didn’t go crazy. The only difference between Kevin and Donatello is that Donnie doesn’t have a soul. Cas says a human soul works as a filter to shield the prophet against the darkness of the tablet. Amara, God’s sister, ate Donatello’s soul…so it’s gone. They can’t fix this.
Sam gets upset because they were so close to getting their mom back. Cas says the kindest thing they can do is to kill Donatello to end his suffering. A new prophet will appear and they can finish the translation. Sam doesn’t want to kill Donatello. He thinks there might be a spell they can use instead. Cas leaves the room saying he’s going to do what he has to. He goes into the room where Donatello is tied up and locks the door.
Cas asks Donatello for the correct ingredients. Donatello says he’s won’t tell them Cas says he’s going to strip the spell from Donatello’s mind. Something he promised he would never do without permission. Donatello gets nervous because he absorbed too much power. Cas apologizes but he won’t let Donatello hurt the people he loves. Sam and Dean are on the other side of the door and hear Donatello start screaming. When Cas opens the door, the brothers see Donatello ot cold. Cas says he knows what to do.
Whatever it Takes
Bobby thanks Jack for saving the camp. Jack says he had to come back because Sam and Dean wouldn’t run. They’d stay and fight. He says the angels will never stop. As long as Michael is out there, the ware will never end. He has to kill Michael.
Sam and Dean took Donatello to the hospital. He’s alive, but he’s brain dead. Cas defends his actions by telling the brothers that Donatello was corrupted. He was working Asmodeus. And he couldn’t be saved. Dean asks why Cas gets to decide who to save. Cas says no, but he took the right. They were running out to time. The War is coming. They needed the spell and he got it.
They need four ingredients: Archangel Grace, fruit from the Tree of Life, the seal of Solomon, and the blood of a most Holy man. With this spell, they can bring everyone home and defeat both Lucifer and Michael. It’s the only way they win and survive. Like Dean said…whatever it takes.

Thoughts
That was really contradictory. Cas goes against his promise and hurts a human to get what he needs to stop a war that started with angels turning on humans. Is that foreshadowing what is to come in Supernatural?
Cas kind of scared me. But then again, Dean did say, whatever it took. And yeah, Cas was kind of right. Donatello wasn’t savable. He drank too much demon kool aid this time.
Good for Jack! I love his reasoning. It’s so simple. If he didn’t have angelic powers, I’m pretty sure he’d think differently. I just love that he wants so much to be good.
