The CW’s Superman and Lois is back with “Into Oblivion.” The episode kicks off with a flashback depicting how Natalie (Tayler Buck) came to this Earth and found her father. Switching back to the present time, John Henry (Wolé Parks) wakes confused in the hospital. He mistakes Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) for his Lois. The doctor explains to Natalie, Lois and Clark (Tyler Hoechlin) the confusion is normal and temporary with his type of brain trauma.
Lana (Emmanuelle Chriqui) and Kyle (Erik Valdez) settle into a new, albeit awkward, norm of co-parenting.
Clark and Lois speak with the boys about X Kryptonite and where it came from. The football season ended because of the incident. They had to forfeit their wins.
Jonathan (Jordan Elsass) continues to keep his girlfriend’s secret safe. Due to the incident, he finds out he will have classes online and has to start a job at the local grocery store.
Ally (Rya Kihlstedt) allows former Lieutenant Anderson (Ian Bohen) to see his shadow self, and Ally’s shadow self sends a message. She invites Chrissy (Sofia Hasmik) to join them in their plan to merge with their shadow selves.

Later at school, Sarah (Inde Navarrette) reveals to Jordan (Alex Garfin) that she spoke with Aubrey (Djouliet Amara) for help to cope with her parents’ split. Sarah proposes that the three of them hang out to eliminate the weirdness between them all. Jordan overhears Candice’s (Samantha Di Francesco) argument with a dealer over money for X Kryptonite inhalers.
Superman (Hoechlin) and Sam (Dylan Walsh) discover Ally’s pendant is missing. They believe Ally may already have the pendant. Lois and Sam get a text from Lucy (Jenna Dewan). The text sounds like a goodbye. Superman checks on Lucy at home, finding that Lucy isn’t home. The three deduce the location of Ally and the others planning to merge.
Ally and her followers are in the mine at the portal separating their worlds, preparing to merge. The merge isn’t going as planned. Superman arrives to save the remaining few who haven’t flown through the portal. Upon being questioned by Sam, Superman relays his uncertainty about whether Lucy was present. His grim expression reveals his belief that everyone going through the portal didn’t make it.

While attending his duties as Superman, Clark neglected to pick up John Henry and Natalie from the hospital. This furthers the animosity Natalie holds for him. She admits to her worry that her father will end up like their mother – dead at Superman’s hand.
With no one else to help, Lana invites Kyle over to help with the campaign. He grills her on personal questions, giving her advice on what to do with when the debate takes a turn into her marriage.
Back at the D.O.D, Sam interrogates Ally, getting no answers from her about the whereabouts of Lucy.
John Henry gives Clark sage advice on how to handle Natalie. Clark needs to allow her to get to know him, rather than always seeing the Superman who killed her mother.
After work, Jonathan walks Candice home. The two share a sweet moment with Candice, admitting her love for him. The man demanding money from her interrupts the moment, and he and Jonathan fight. Hearing the altercation from across town, Jordan sped to save the two. After the fight, Jordan decides not to join Aubrey and Sarah in the restaurant.

Clark offers Natalie and John Henry their own place, believing this will be best for them all. He also extends the offer of getting to know him. Natalie and John Henry agree that the place is perfect after a walk-through.
Lucy shows up at the Kent’s place, telling them her instincts told her to escape the mine and she made her way back to the Kent farm. The Lane family agrees to family brunch. Sam takes Lucy home and collapses after Lucy drugged his tea. She reveals she is the failsafe to make sure Ally gets to the other side.
This episode definitely came with unexpected twists. The biggest of all was Lucy double-crossing them for Ally. Of course, I probably should have seen it coming with just how loyal she’s been to Ally, but I was rooting for her to have realized Ally wasn’t on her side.
I was so happy to see John Henry and Natalie back in the mix. It was great to revisit how Natalie feels about the situation she and her dad are now in. While our Superman is a lovable hero, she experienced a traumatic loss at the hands of the Superman of her world.
There were very sweet, unspoken, supportive moments with Clark and Lois. I loved seeing them in the face of all they were dealing with. We still see them as a united front.
I can’t wait to see what Ally is doing and how Lucy will come back from this.
Superman & Lois airs Tuesdays at 8 pm on The CW. You can stream it the next day on The CW app.
