Fans of the CW‘s newest superhero series Superman & Lois, got exciting news today! The CW has decided to renew it for a second season even before the second episode airs. It seems like the Man of Steel has won over the hearts of viewers and CW executives!
CW CEO Mark Pedowitz shared, “The phenomenal multiplatform debut of Superman & Lois, which delivered for us in a big way on both a linear and streaming basis, is a testament to the creativity, hard work and dedication of the talented people who worked tirelessly in front and behind the camera, especially in this challenging environment.” Well said, sir! The new series continues to expand on the CW’s DC TV universe with a look into one of America’s strongest heroes’ life and family.
Superman & Lois follows Clark (Tyler Hoechlin) and Lois (Elizabeth Tulloch) as they leave behind Metropolis and move their family back to the quiet town of Smallville. They hope that a change of place will help raise their two sons Jonathan (Jordan Elsass) and Jordan (Alexander Garfin), who struggle with anxiety. We get the chance to see a more “normal” side to Superman as he opens up about his powers with his children and how he struggles to gain their trust after years of lying.
Superman & Lois officially aired on February 23 with an extended 90-minute episode and a half-hour special afterward. With 1.75 million viewers, this marked the largest same-day audience for any of the CW’s DC series since the Crisis on Infinite Earths crossover event. It is easy to see why they were willing to give this series a second season after seeing how many people were truly invested in their story. We hope that the rest of the season continues to prosper.
Superman & Lois airs Tuesday nights at 9 PM EST/ 6 PM PST. We are excited to see where this story goes! Let us know how excited you are in the comments below and on social media.
