If you haven’t heard, a Mortal Kombat reboot has been in the works for a few months and the cast is lining up to be pretty impactful. That cast includes Supergirl‘s Mehcad Brooks.  Here’s what we know so far.

According to Deadline, Brooks will play Jackson “Jax” Bridges.  Other cast members include Joe Taslim (The Raid: Redemption) as Sub-Zero, Ludi Lin (Aquaman) as Liu Kang, and newcomer Sisi Stringer as Mileena.  Tadanobu Asano (Thor: Raganrok) is in negotiations to play Raiden.

This is the third film inspired by the video game. The first was in 1995, Mortal Kombat, starring Christopher Lambert and Robin Shou as Raiden and Liu Kang respectively.  Shou returned for the sequel, Mortal Kombat: Annihilation with James Remar as Raiden in 1997.

Simon McQuoid will make his directoral debut with the script written by Greg Russo.  James Wan and Todd Garner are producing.  Larry Kasanoff, E. Bennett Walsh, Michael Clear and Sean Robins will serve as executive producers.

If you’re a fan of the video game, then you know the character possibilities are endless.  I’m personally looking forward to seeing who they feature in this reboot. The film has to include Scorpion. It’s just not Mortal Kombat without Scorpion.  Which characters are you excited to see?

Mortal Kombat is scheduled to premiere in theaters on March 5, 2021.
