Netflix has dropped a brand new trailer and the cast list for the upcoming anime based on Mark Millar‘s Super Crooks. This four-issue limited-release comic from Millar and artist Leinil Yu follows a group of thieves, you know the super crooks, as they go on a heist after one of their members tries to cheat a major mob in Vegas. Think of it as a mix of the X-Men and Ocean’s Eleven.

The trailer for Super Crooks gives us our first look at the anime style and how they plan to bring Millar’s epic adventure to life. And it does not disappoint. It gives me feels of My Hero Academia-style powers mixed with the greatest thief in the world Lupin III. And I am here for it. The trailer introduces us to Johnny Bolt (Jonah Scott) and his crew, who find themselves rolling the dice on one last heist. Maybe, just maybe, this one will turn out differently.
I am in love with this how this series looks. And why wouldn’t I? The animation is done by Studio Bones, who are behind projects like Cowboy Bebop: The Movie and the My Hero Academia franchise. I guess you can say that they really understood the assignment. I am a massive fan of Millar’s work and was upset to see Jupiter’s Legacy not get renewed, but I am more than excited for this series to drop. And doing it in the anime format only makes me more excited to see what high-octane superhuman battles they can bring us.
Johnny Bolt’s crew and fellow characters include Kasey Ann (Abby Trott), The Bastard (Jason Marnocha), Carmine / The Heat (Doug Stone), The Gladiator (Beau Billingslea), Josh / The Ghost (Bill Butts), TK McCabe (Bill Rogers), Roddy Diesel (Bruno Oliver), Sammy Diesel (Ben Pronsky), The Praetorian (DC Douglas) and Forecast (Zeno Robinson).
