The COVID-19 pandemic has caused so many problems since the beginning of March. The video games industry is doing its best to provide for fans while also making sure they stay safely at home. This has caused many conventions including GDC and E3 to cancel their major conventions over this upcoming summer. This led to people asking, so what’s next? What are we going to do now? Well it looks like The Game Awards and many other companies have banded together to answer these questions. They are bringing us Summer Game Fest!

Summer Game Fest will run from May to August and will bring fans all the content they would see at conventions. This includes breaking news, in-game events, and even playable content. This is an all-digital consumer celebration that will give fans the things they are going to miss in the comfort and safety of their own homes. As part of the Summer Game Fest several platforms have joined in to offer fans playable limited time demonstrations that they would normally have the chance to experience during live conventions.

These companies include 2K, Activision, Bandai Namco Entertainment, Bethesda, Blizzard Entertainment, Bungie, CD Projekt Red, Digital Extremes, Electronic Arts, Microsoft, Sony Interactive Entertainment, Square Enix, Private Division, Riot Games, Steam, and Warner Bros Interactive. With all of these amazing companies it is safe to say that this is definitely going to be an action-packed summer.

Summer Game Fest will wrap up on August 24, 2020 with Gamescom: Opening Night Live. The event will be hosted by Geoff Keighley.
