Hayao Miyazaki fans, your 2017 just got even better. Sponsored by GKids, 6 of Studio Ghibli’s films will be coming back to theaters. Starting in June and going until November, the films will be in theaters nationwide. One day for the English dub, one day for the original Japanese with subtitles.
Kicking off Studio Ghibli Fest 2017, My Neighbor Totoro, my personal favorite, will be playing June 25th and June 26th. That’s Sunday for the dub and Monday for the original Japanese. Kiki’s Delivery Service flies into theaters July 23rd and 24th. Castle in the Sky floats into theaters August 27th and 28th. Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind takes over theaters September 24th and 25th. Academy Award winner Spirited Away rides into theaters on October 29th and 30th. And finally, Howl’s Moving Castle beautifully soars into theaters November 26th and 27th.
This is a great opportunity for fans to relive the magic of the films on a large screen. I’m considering seeing a few myself. Though, I am a fan of the Fox dub of My Neighbor Totoro versus the Disney so I might have to pass on that one. Tickets are on sale now and they will be playing at many theaters, so check out the listings to see if your favorite theater will be playing them!
