This is totally awesome! Hawkins, Indiana is getting a mall! Netflix released the first teaser for Stranger Things 3 that features a voice over by the Hawkins Mayor Kline (Cary Elwes) as he describes the exciting addition of Starcourt Mall to the Hawkins community.
What’s more American than a shopping mall? Starcourt Mall has something for everyone! The Gap, Waldenbooks, Sam Goody, and Scoops Ahoy! That’s where you’ll find Steve Harrington (Joe Keery) with his co-worker Robin (Maya Hawke). Starcourt is coming to Hawkins next summer.
From the teaser, we can assume that a lot of the season three story line will involve the mall. That brings to mind cult film classic George Romero’s Dawn of the Dead. Does this mean our adolescent heroes will be spending an intense evening in the mall? And Steve! He has a job! Does this mean he’s staying in Hawkins after graduation? Inquiring minds want to know.
Stranger Things 3 is currently in production. The show recently received 12 Emmy nominations including Outstanding Drama Series, David Harbour for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series and Millie Bobby Brown for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.
Whatever season three brings, let’s hope that Steve’s hair hasn’t changed. We do not have an official release date, but considering that the mall opens next summer, it’s safe to say that’s when we’ll all return to Hawkins.
