While the Summer of Gaming may be coming to an end, PlayStation still had a few surprises up their sleeve with their latest State of Play. Throughout the livestream, we saw gameplay from several upcoming releases and footage from newly announced titles. In case you missed it, here are all of the trailers, announcements and walkthroughs from the August PlayStation State of Play.
Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time
The State of Play kicked off with an inside look at the highly anticipated Crash Bandicoot title, Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time. This game is packed with the classic perspective platforming fans will remember, with the addition of new elements including wall-running, rope swinging and more. Additionally, you can play the game entirely as Coco (Crash’s younger sister), and there will also be levels where you play as Dr. Neo Cortex, and yes, even Dingodile. And players looking for a challenge can try the game’s new “Inverted Mode.” Crash Bandicoot 4: It’s About Time will release on October 2, 2020.
HITMAN III
Next, we got another quick look into IO Interactive‘s Hitman III and the all-new Hitman VR mode that the game will feature! This new gameplay mode will provide a creative experience for Hitman and VR fans alike! Hitman III will be available in January 2021.
Braid Anniversary Edition
In the Braid Anniversary Edition, players can look forward to newly painted and remastered visuals, smoother animations, immersive sound and music and even developer commentary. If you are a fan of this classic time-manipulating puzzler, then you definitely need to pick up this title. Braid Anniversary Edition is set to release in 2021.
The Pathless
From Giant Squid Studios comes a game that is an innovative take on classic archery gameplay. In The Pathless, you take on the role of The Hunter in a mythical open-world forest landscape. Players can look forward to solving small and large puzzles, flying with their Eagle and ultimately fighting the forces of darkness. The Pathless will be available Holiday 2020.

Spelunky 2
We then got an in-depth look at Spelunky 2! This sequel features all of the gameplay elements fans have loved from the first title, but now includes online multiplayer so you can explore with your friends! And even if you’re adventuring alone, you’ll be building your in-game family via the cast of characters you discover on your spelunking journey. The game also features creative new ways to explore and new items and NPCs that can help, or even hinder your journey! Spelunky 2 will be available on September 15, 2020.
Genshin Impact
Genshin Impact is a brand new open-world RPG from developer miHoYo. In the mythical realm of Teyvat, players will take on the role of the Traveler and embrace the power of the elements. Together with a cast of exciting and powerful characters, you’ll fight and explore this beautiful world. Genshin Impact is set to release Autumn 2020.
Aeon Must Die
Next, we got the world premiere trailer of Aeon Must Die! This beat-em-up fighter combines thrilling gameplay, a striking art style, and a unique RPG alignment system. If you are a fan of riveting fighting games, then Aeon Must Die is a title that you definitely shouldn’t miss! Aeon Must Die is set to release in 2021.
ANNO: Mutationem
ANNO: Mutationem beautifully blends 2D and 3D pixel art in a beautiful Cyberpunk world. In this side-scrolling adventure, players will explore and uncover the dark secrets that lie beneath the neon Metropolis Anne calls home. ANNO: Mutationem will be available in December 2020.
Bugsnax
We finally got an in-depth look at the gameplay of Bugsnax! Ever since the first trailer, gamers alike have been curious as to what they can expect from this colorful and tasty looking game! Throughout Bugsnax, players will explore the island, solve puzzles, capture Bugsnax, utilize their photography skills and more! Bugsnax will release Holiday 2020.

Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series
Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series is finally headed to the PSVR! In this beautiful trailer, we got a look at the gameplay and story of one of the most beloved VR games recently released. As someone with a PSVR, I honestly can’t wait to dive into this lightsaber-wielding Star Wars story experience! Vader Immortal: A Star Wars VR Series will be available on August 25, 2020.

Control Expansion 2 AWE
AWE is the second DLC expansion for Remedy Entertainment‘s Control. In this next installment, players will explore the Investigations Sector, a department that allows the Bureau to watch Altered World Events closely. Additionally, there is a lot of speculation that this DLC expansion will tie into another one of the developer’s games, Alan Wake. Control Expansion 2 AWE will be available on August 27, 2020.
Auto Chess
Love classic chess and compelling strategy games? Then Auto Chess is the game for you! Prepare to fight your way to the top by creating synergy and combos with your army of unique chess pieces. Auto Chess will release on October 31, 2020.
The Pedestrian
The Pedestrian is arguably the most unique game from the August State of Play showcase. In this side-scrolling platformer, players will solve unique 2D puzzles. These puzzles will take players to various neat locations, including a workbench, construction signs and more! The Pedestrian is set to release in 2021.
Hood: Outlaw and Legends
Prepare to get medieval in Hood: Outlaws in Legends! In this re-imagining of Robin Hood, you and your band of thieves will fight for riches in an unforgiving Gothic landscape. Work together to execute the ultimate heist, all the while battling AI AND other players! This PvPvE promises thrills and thievery, and we cannot wait to find out more! Hood: Outlaws and Legends will release in 2021.
Temtem
TemTem is a brand new multiplayer creature battle game headed to the PlayStation! Prepare to adventure with your friends, team up for battles, solve puzzles, capture new Temtems and more. If you’re looking for a multiplayer Pokemon experience, then be sure to keep an eye out for Temtem! Temtem is set to release in 2021.
Godfall
Finally, we got a long look at the melee gameplay of Godfall. Counterplay Games’ looter-slasher features gripping action, combat and robust progression systems. Players can explore the world of Godfall by themselves, or with friends in online multiplayer. Likewise, players will have a selection of five various weapon classes to choose from: longsword, dual blades, polearm, two-handed war hammer and two-handed greatsword. Each weapon features its own unique gameplay, feel and combo sequences. As you fight your way throughout the various elemental realms, you’ll unlock a variety of gear that will allow you to customize your Godfall gameplay style further. Godfall will release Holiday 2020 on the PlayStation 5.
All in all, the August State of Play was a small look into the variety of games headed to the PS4, PS5, and PSVR. Regardless of the type of gamer you are, PlayStation has an upcoming game for you!
