DC’s Stargirl has finalized it’s core cast. New additions include Amy Smart, Neil Jackson, Hunter Sansone, and Trae Romano. Deadline announced the casting of Cameron Gellman on Thursday.
Smart will play Barbara Whitmore, mother to Courtney Whitmore (Brec Bassinger) aka Stargirl, and wife of Pat Dugan (Luke Wilson). And Romero will play Pat’s son Mike Dugan. According to Deadline, Jackson, Sansone, and Gellman’s will be playing undisclosed DC characters.
Created for the new DC Universe streaming channel, Stargirl also stars Joel McHale, Lou Ferrigno Jr., Brian Stapf, Henry Thomas and Anjelika Washington also star in the series.
Based on the DC characters, Stargirl follows high school sophomore Courtney Whitmore as she inspires an unlikely group of young heroes to stop the villains of the past.
Geoff Johns created the series. Johns will write the first episode and serve as show runner. Greg Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and Melissa Carter serve as executive producers. Berlanti Productions and Mad Ghost Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television will produce the series.
