Meg DeLacy has been cast as villain Shiv in DC Universe series Stargirl

We have more casting news coming out of Stargirl! According to Deadline, two new cast members have joined the ranks for the DC Universe series. Welcome to the DC family Meg DeLacy and Jake Austin Walker! So what do we know about their characters?

Unfortunately Jake Austin Walker’s role is currently undisclosed, like many of the previous casting announcements. He could be one of the members of Courtney Whitmore’s/Stargirl’s blossoming Justice League of America. Or he could be teamed up with Meg DeLacy’s character who has been named as Cindy Burman. Also known as Shiv, the character is a supervillain and will be clashing directly with Stargirl. She’s been described as “second-generation menace”. She’s the most popular (and most feared) girl in school. “Secretly the daughter of Dragon King (played by Nelson Lee), a longtime enemy of the Justice Society of America, Cindy is determined to follow in her father’s footsteps.”

In the comics, Shiv has a deeper hatred for Courtney given that their clash resulted in the death of someone close to her. It’s unclear if they’re going to follow that same route but we can safely assume she’ll be our big bad of the series. While the series is expected to focus on Courtney as she inspires young heroes to fight against villains of the past, it’s good to know that there will be villains uprising. Especially ones close to her age. Does it raise the stakes more? We’ll have to wait and see.

What do you think of Shiv joining the series? Let us know! Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more DC news. Stargirl stars Brec Bassinger, Luke Wilson, Joel McHale, Lou Ferrigno Jr., Brian Stapf, Henry Thomas, Nelson Lee, Neil Hopkins, Joy Osmanski, Anjelika Washington, and more. Stargirl is coming to DC Universe sometime this year.
