More Mandos incoming! Announced today by THR, we learned that The Mandalorian will be adding actress and former MMA fighter Gina Carano (Deadpool) to the cast list. This news coming just a day after the announcement of Pedro Pascal (Game of Thrones) joining the series. Things are really starting to heat up for the show!

Unfortunately, we have no word on who or what her character will be. Anything about the characters is being locked up tight like Han in carbonite. What we do know is that Jon Favreau has written the series and will executive produce it. A plethora of directors will be behind the cameras including Taika Waititi (Thor: Ragnarok), Bryce Dallas Howard, and the animation guru himself, Dave Filoni. We also know that the series will take place in the Outer Rims, a place not yet explored in live-action. It’s also set between the fall of the Empire and the rise of the First Order, so anything can happen.

When it was announced that Pascal had joined in a leading role, I bemoaned the casting a little. Not because of the actor but because of a lack of female representation. It appears the gods of the Mouse House heard my complaint and announced this soon afterwards. With the casting of Carano, I’m looking forward to an action-heavy part from her. I’m really excited to see what she ends up being, whether she’s also a Mandalorian warrior or if she’s a bounty hunter from another planet. But fingers crossed we see a lot more bada** females in this series – cause I’m so ready.

What do you think of her casting? Are you looking forward to the show and seeing what we’re going to get into? Let us know! Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more Star Wars news. The Mandalorian debuts on Disney+ sometime next year.
