STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI Hints at Snoke and Kylo Ren’s Relationship

In The Last Jedi whirlwind coming out of EW, there’s a lot to take in. So much so that I caught this days after its release, thanks to listening to it a second time. While speaking about Rey (Daisy Ridley) and Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) and focusing on their dynamic, we actually learned more about why Kylo had fallen in the first place.

In a video talking about the article, Anthony Breznican revealed that he was most interested in Kylo Ren’s past more than Rey’s. He learned what people had theorized for some time. In the book Aftermath, Leia (Carrie Fisher) felt a dark Force on her child and couldn’t quite explain it. People had theorized it was Snoke (Andy Serkis) and it turns out to be true, at least the part about Snoke watching over him. Adam Driver spoke to Breznican, explaining that people can relate to Kylo’s abandonment, because he felt his parents cared more about the Rebellion than himself. Breznican elaborated on what happened.

So we’re going to see a Kylo Ren who turned dark because he already felt like he was already in the shadows. Supreme Leader Snoke, like a lot of predators out there, identified a vulnerable kid. Reached out to him. Befriended him. And lured him to the Dark Side.

Now real talk, Snoke is a big creep in the first place. But hearing this brings a whole new level of creepy. He watched Kylo since he was a child. When he felt his most vulnerable, Snoke was there to offer his hand. Possibly in the way that Kylo has offered Rey his. But at least we learned, truly, that Kylo was lured away with lies, similar to the way his grandfather Anakin was. Now we need to see if he can break away from the darkness and return to the light before it’s too late for him.

What do you think? Let us know! Be sure to see the creepiness below and come back to Geek Girl Authority for more Star Wars news. The Last Jedi is out on December 15th, 2017.
