STAR WARS: THE LAST JEDI Cast Share Laughs and Stories on Late Night

The release of The Last Jedi is getting closer and closer. And with that begins the awkward, fun and repeat-answer filled extravaganza known as press tours. For one of their first stops, the cast and writer/director Rian Johnson went on the Disney owned Jimmy Kimmel Live! And we got a lot of fun out of it.

First they brought out the heavy hitter – BB-8! I’m slightly kidding, but BB got a little segment with his “girlfriend”, a vacuum in the audience. Then we were shown the real heavy hitters – Rian Johnson, Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley and Adam Driver. Adam was particularly coy in talking about his character, in that he didn’t answer. Instead he talked about how he gives away lightsabers and helmets to the kids in the building he lives in.

And when Daisy was asked if she was related “to anyone on the couch”, Mark was able to take the question over for all of them.

This whole saga is about family. A dysfunctional family, yes. But I thought I was a nice, nurturing… in my mind, I thought I was a great uncle to Ben Solo and I feel tremendous guilt that I wasn’t there for him.

Frankly, Mark is able to make everyone feel more comfortable by talking. He just bulldozes through everyone so they don’t feel nervous about saying anything wrong. He continued on talking about filming the big twist in Empire Strikes Back. He also shared that during the premiere, Harrison Ford turned around and say “You didn’t f***ing tell me that”. His impression of Ford is hilarious, you have to see it.

The rest of the cast at the show joined them. Kelly Marie Tran, Andy Serkis, Oscar Isaac, John Boyega, Gwendoline Christie and Laura Dern. From here, things really rolled out. For one, Kelly admitted her first TV role was on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Gwendoline admits her Captain Phasma is more comfortable armor than her Game of Thrones armor but it feels like “wearing a car”. Andy Serkis was about to talk about Snoke but instead asked what Jimmy’s theory is on who Snoke is. The man behind “Your Snoke Theory Sucks”, Steele Saunders from Steele Wars, was in the audience and got called out. So nice to see one of us getting some love!

Oscar was able to share that his Star Wars loving uncle was not in the new movie but his friend Peter is. Apparently his uncle’s character and his friend’s character were both killed off, so maybe don’t go to set with Oscar. Laura had a lovely story herself. She was a little girl when she saw Star Wars for the first time and she adored it. She’s such a fangirl she pointed to Mark and said “That’s Luke Skywalker by the way”. But it didn’t stop there. Instead, she said she’ll never forget one day on set. Rian had come up to her and said that a fan of hers wanted to say hi. She turned around and there was Chewbacca. In true fangirl fashion, she began to weep while hugging Chewie. I mean, who wouldn’t?!

The fun didn’t stop there! Hasbro actually made a Rian Johnson figure, dressed in Luke Skywalker’s robes from the new film surrounded by porgs. It looks incredible! Hasbro made it specifically for him and only made the one. Speaking of porgs, there was mixed feelings regarding the adorable new creatures. John Boyega is not a fan of them, citing filming with them on the Millennium Falcon, hiding in a bunch of different holes. Oscar, however, is “pro-Porg”. That’s my guy!

Bonus! The first word in Star Wars: The Last Jedi is “We’re”. Whether that’s spoken or in the scroll, we’ll have to see in 13 days! Ahhh!

There’s even more but you’ll have to see it for yourself and try not to grin along with them. Check out all the videos below and let us know what you think! Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more Star Wars news. The Last Jedi is out on December 15th.
