Warrior. Outcast. Rebel. Jedi. Ahsoka Tano contains multitudes. Star Wars Celebration 2023 opened in the UK with a teaser trailer for the highly anticipated Disney+ series Ahsoka, starring Rosario Dawson as the titular hero. The Star Wars galaxy (you know, the one that’s far, far away) will never be the same.
Here’s a synopsis for the show per the D23 site:
“Set after the fall of the Empire, Ahsoka follows the former Jedi knight Ahsoka Tano as she investigates an emerging threat to a vulnerable galaxy.” We can also assume Ahsoka will hunt for Grand Admiral Thrawn and Ezra Bridger.
The teaser gives us a better look at Ahsoka in action, along with Sabine Wren, Hera Syndulla, Ezra and Baylan Skoll. We glimpse the back of Thrawn’s head, a brief cameo of Andor‘s Mon Mothma (Genevieve O’Reilly) and the return of Diana Lee Inosanto as Morgan Elsbeth, who first appeared in Season 2 Episode 5 of The Mandalorian, “Chapter 13: The Jedi,” the exact outing Ahsoka made her live-action debut. Elsbeth helped construct the Imperial Navy and was the magistrate of Calodan on Corvus.

The teaser opens with Ahsoka voicing her concerns about a dark threat looming on the horizon. We see shots of her in all her dual-lightsaber-wielding glory. She faces off against Baylan Skoll at one point, and she reunites with Sabine after “things have changed.” Sabine gazes at a hologram of Ezra. Ahsoka states her belief that Thrawn is on the rise as the “heir to the Empire.” This is a nod to the novel of the same name by Timothy Zahn.
Ahsoka stars Rosario Dawson, Mary Elizabeth Winstead as Hera Syndulla, Natasha Liu Bordizzo as Sabine Wren, Eman Esfandi as Ezra Bridger, Ivanna Sakhno as Shin Hati and Ray Stevenson as Baylan Skoll, who poses as an adversary to Ahsoka. Hayden Christensen will appear as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader.

This show ranks almost as high as Andor regarding my excitement for something new in the Star Wars live-action space. The teaser trailer does precisely what it’s supposed to do — it teases the miniseries without revealing too much of the plot. Plus, the musical score is goosebump-inducing.
Check out the official poster and watch the teaser trailer below. Ahsoka will hit our screens sometime in August 2023 on Disney+.
