Exciting news coming in from the galaxy far, far away. According to Deadline, the untitled Cassian Andor series has a showrunner. Say hello to Stephen Schiff, former executive producer of The Americans. Disney continues to prove that they want top talent in on their productions, pushing to make Disney+ a top-tier streaming service. Especially with their Star Wars series!

Schiff will serve as executive producer of the series as well as showrunner. The producer just recently ended his run on The Americans, after jumping onboard in the second season. Given the amount of praise the show got, including two Emmy nominations, it seems we’re in good hands. Not to mention that the whole series was an espionage thriller, so we know Schiff has experience. Screenwriter Jared Bush (Moana, Zootopia) wrote the pilot to the series and the “bible” to help map out the events set to take place in the series.

The only casting we have for the series right now is the return of Diego Luna in the role of Cassian. Luna is very ready to return to the role, mentioning during the announcement of the series that we “have a fantastic adventure ahead of us, and this new exciting format will give us the chance to explore this character more deeply.” We’ll be able to see just what pushed Cassian to make the choices he does in Rogue One. I, for one, am excited for this. I really enjoyed the character in the film and am really curious to see yet another side to the Rebellion. And now with Schiff involved, I think it’s safe to say this is gonna be a good series. Just remember – if there’s no K2SO, we riot.

What do you think of Stephen Schiff joining the series? Are you looking forward to more adventures with Cassian? Let us know! Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more Star Wars news. The untitled Cassian Andor series currently doesn’t have a release date.
