A clip from Star Trek: Strange New Worlds Season 2 was released during Star Trek Day 2022. In addition, we learned that Carol Kane will join the cast of Strange New Worlds.

Strange New Worlds Season 1 swiftly became an audience favorite thanks to its episodic nature and hopeful tone. The series features Anson Mount as Captain Pike, Rebecca Romijn as Number One, Ethan Peck as Spock, Christina Chong as La’An, Melissa Navia as Ortegas, Celia Rose Gooding as Uhura, Babs Olusanmokun as Doctor M’Benga and Jess Bush as Nurse Chapel.

Bush, Chong, Gooding, Navia, Olusanmokun and Romijn appeared on a Star Trek Day 2022 panel moderated by Tawny Newsome. Newsome will guest star on Strange New Worlds Season 2 during a crossover with Star Trek: Lower Decks. According to Romijn, Newsome broke many things on the Strange New Worlds sets she visited.

During the panel, Romijn revealed Kane will play a new senior officer, Chief Engineer Pelia. In Strange New Worlds Season 1, the Enterprise Chief Engineer was Hemmer, played by Bruce Horak. However, that character succumbed to the Gorn in Strange New Worlds Season 1 Episode 9, “Not All Who Wander.”

The Season 2 clip released at the panel features the pilot’s personal log for Stardate 1630.3. Ortegas explains that at long last, we’ll be seeing her join an away team. This is because her piloting skills are needed to traverse the atmosphere of Rigel VII.

However, Spock soon informs Ortegas that her skills will be needed aboard the Enterprise. This means she won’t be joining the landing party. The clip concludes with Ortegas and Spock sharing an entertaining interaction.

Between the promising clip and news of Kane’s addition to the cast, Strange New Worlds Season 2 is looking bright.

Strange New Worlds Season 1 is available for streaming on Paramount Plus.
