Can’t get enough of the recent crossover between Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and Star Trek: Lower Decks, “Those Old Scientists“? We can’t blame you: neither can we! Fortunately, more sweet SNW x LD action is beaming in soon. In a post made to Twitter on Wednesday, July 26, 2023, the official account for the LD mobile game, Star Trek: Lower Decks: The Badgey Directive, revealed the titular “Old Scientists” will be arriving in the game before you know it.

Those Old Scientists in The Badgey Directive

The Badgey Directive is an idle game that sees a beta version of Badgey the sadistic sentient hologram trapping the crew of the USS Cerritos inside the holodeck and then subjecting them to demented recreations of historical Starfleet missions.

But the game provides ample motivation for Trekkie players to continue to face off against Badgey. Completing event goals unlocks a full complement of classic Star Trek characters to both provide essential Merit Point multipliers and populate the player’s Cerritos bar. Until now, the characters represented came from many shows, including Star Trek: The Original Series. However, characters from SNW had yet to be represented.

A PADD running LCARS reads: "Incoming Hail. Communications open with: USS Enterprise NCC-1701-nothing. Origin Stardate: 2291.6. Crew request permission to board. Permission granted. 07.31.23."

On Saturday, July 22, 2023, “Those Old Scientists” debuted at San Diego Comic-Con 2023. Just a few hours later in the day, it was released for streaming on Paramount+. Then on Wednesday, July 26, players who logged into The Badgey Directive were greeted by an Incoming Hail. This notification stated communications were open with the USS Enterprise NCC-1701, with an origin Stardate of 2291.6. This Stardate is the one to which Ensigns Bradward Boimler (Jack Quaid) and Becket Mariner (Tawny Newsome) traveled in the crossover episode. Furthermore, the notification stated the crew requested permission to board. It concluded with the date, “07.31.23.”

Now, the official Twitter account for the game has confirmed the SNW crew will indeed be beaming into The Badgey Directive. According to the Tweet, Trekkies won’t want to miss the “two thrilling weeks” of crossover content. Additionally, the Tweet confirms the festivities will begin on Monday, July 31, 2023.
