Highlights

  • Sandro Rosta has joined Star Trek: Starfleet Academy as a cadet.
  • He joins an already robust cast roster that includes new series characters in addition to Star Trek: Discovery characters.
  • The series is set in the 32nd-century timeline introduced by Discovery Season 3 and boasts the largest set ever constructed for a Star Trek show.

Another cadet is preparing to matriculate in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy, the upcoming addition to the 32nd century of the Franchise. The newest cadet to appear on the attendance sheet will be played by Sandro Rosta. Here’s what we know so far.

Sandro Rosta Heading to Starfleet Academy

Rosta is an actor and model from Canada who recently graduated from the Oxford School of Drama. There, he performed at the Jermyn Street Theatre in the role of Romeo in Romeo and Juliet, among other performances. And recently, he made his professional debut at Hampstead Theatre in The Harmony Test. Rosta is the latest addition to a growing roster of cadets in Star Trek: Starfleet Academy.

Previously Announced Cast

Actors Kerrice Brooks, Karim Diané, George Hawkins, Bella Shepard and Zoë Steiner were added as cadets. Meanwhile, the show will feature Holly Hunter as the captain and chancellor of the Academy. We also reported that a newly-introduced faculty member will be played by Gina Yashere.

Rounding out the faculty are several Franchise alums: Sylvia Tilly (Mary Wiseman) will appear as a guest star and Jett Reno (Tig Notaro) will appear as a series regular. Plus you can expect to see more of Admiral Charles Vance (Oded Fehr), who will also guest star. And perhaps most surprising of all, The Doctor (Robert Picardo) will also appear as a regular on the series.

Along with the (presumed) protagonists, an antagonistic character has been added to the cast. Paul Giamatti will play the character, about whom little is currently known. However, since the press release promises the series will debut “a new enemy that threatens both the Academy and the Federation itself,” it’s quite possible the character could rank among Star Trek‘s most menacing villains.
