In Star Trek: Section 31 Part 2, “The Godsend,” Emperor Philippa Georgiou (Michelle Yeoh) has once again joined the titular clandestine agency. Section 31 was directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi, with a screenplay written by Craig Sweeny from a story by Bo Yeon Kim and Erika Lippoldt.

“A lifetime ago” in the Terran Empire, Georgiou is having flashbacks to the day she murdered her family and scarred her lover, San. The older version of San (James Hiroyuki Liao) arrives and presents the Emperor with a completed weapon. He informs her that the team of engineers killed themselves upon its completion. It’s the same weapon the interloper stole in the previous part.
San cries, and Georgiou asks why. He says it is for her. She asks if he remembers who they were before all this. Georgiou says they were the only ones who understood the cost. She asks if he can recall what they said to one another to survive: “We are two, but one.” Georgiou asks if he would have fled with her then. He says yes, but that the timing of her question is poetic. San has taken the same poison she used to murder her family. As he dies, San calls Georgiou a monster.
Present day, the prime universe. Georgiou awakes in restraints aboard the Section 31 ship. She asks Alok (Omar Hardwick) why he isn’t torturing answers out of her. Georgiou further asks how he knows so much about people like her. She continues to analyze him, wondering why he chose her. Georgiou continues that the situation is worse than he thought. But she wants to know exactly who she’s dealing with.

Star Trek: Section 31, “The Godsend”
Alok reveals he isn’t from this time period. Rather, he was born on Earth in the 20th century. He was exiled after the Eugenics Wars. Alok was born human but turned into an Augment by a tyrant. He compares Georgiou to the tyrant. In return, Georgiou tells Alok to gather his people. She recognizes the weapon because she ordered it to be built.

On a planet filled with plumes of fire, Georgiou and Alok are joined by the surviving members of Section 31’s Alpha Team. These are Quasi (Sam Richardson), Zeph (Rob Kazinsky), Fuzz (Sven Ruygrok) and Lt. Rachel Garrett (Kacey Rohl). Georgiou says that in the Terran Empire, there was always an impending coup. So, she built a weapon to end any threat. This was the Godsend. It travels from planet to planet like a virus, incinerating everything in its path. If she was killed by her enemies, there would be nothing left to rule.

Georgiou reveals the Godsend is the weapon they’re pursuing. She concludes that the Dada Noe (Joe Pingue), who was in possession of the Godsend in the first part, is actually from the Terran universe. He must have brought the Godsend to the Prime universe. Alpha Team is plagued with infighting. Alok says he and Georgiou will return to the ship and interrogate Noe.

Aboard the Section 31 ship, Georgiou and Alok interrogate Noe. They threaten to punch him for every question he fails to answer directly. Georgiou accuses Noe of being from the Terran universe. Under pressure from Georgiou, Noe admits this to be true. He says a collision between ion storms created an anomaly. By traveling through this, he arrived in the Prime universe from the Terran universe.
Your Ship Asplode
The portal will open again in four hours. He says the Terran Empire has exhausted its resources and will travel through the portal to conquer the Prime universe. Noe says the interloper who stole the weapon knows what they know because they learned it from a member of Alpha Team. The interrogation is interrupted by an explosion. Alok calls for emergency transport just before the Section 31 ship explodes and crashes to the surface of the planet. While Georgiou and Alok survive, Noe is dead.

Alok informs Zeph, Fuzz, Quasi and Garrett that they’re dealing with sabotage. One of their number has betrayed the team. Georgiou says if it was her, she would have murdered all of them already. They begin arguing over who the mole might be. Garrett says she’s located an old garbage scow, and this can be used to pursue whoever took the Godsend.

Garrett says she prefers predictability. Georgiou says she’s on the wrong team. She recounts the situation. They have a mole, they’re stranded on a dead planet, have no communication abilities and less than four hours until the Terrans have the Godsend. Alok says they need to get the out-of-date antenna array up and running to inform Section 31 of what’s coming. They’ll work together and keep everyone in sight.
Unfortunately, the mole has already sabotaged the antenna array. Georgiou says they should split into two teams. She’ll lead one into the woods to attempt to salvage the scow. Alok will stay with the others to attempt to repair the antenna. Fuzz questions her leadership. Alok is confident she isn’t the mole. Quasi and Fuzz will go with Georgiou while Garrett and Zeph will stay with him.
The Scow and the Antenna
Later, and elsewhere on the planet, Quasi uses a tricorder to ascertain that the scow’s circuitry is still in decent shape. Georgiou confirms that the Godsend has no failsafe. It can’t be deactivated remotely. Quasi asks if Georgiou ever considered the Godsend overkill. Georgiou says she ordered it to be destroyed. But one of her own people hid it instead. Georgiou determines an essential piece is missing, probably scavenged for its material. However, if it can be replaced, the scow should fly. Georgiou insists they go to the cargo bay. Quasi agrees under duress. Fuzz vacantly says he couldn’t be more excited to join them.

In the meantime, Garrett analyzes the antenna. Meanwhile, Zeph explains to Alok that he isn’t willing to assist in the repairs. Garrett says that the antenna isn’t even really broken. It’s just missing a part. Alok wonders if their mole has the part. Then, he realizes Zeph has disappeared. Garrett and Alok search for him, attempting to raise him on comms without success.

As they search, someone activates the antenna array. Georgiou, Quasi and Fuzz return and reunite with Alok. Garrett returns as well. She determines that someone returned the part to the array and then shot it after using it to send a message. Georgiou accuses Zeph. They conclude Zeph must be lying low until his ride arrives to pick him up.

Soon, the rest of Alpha Team searches for Zeph. As they do so, Georgiou asks Alok about the warlord that augmented him. Alok tells her she died as she lived.
Zeph’s Dead, Baby
Georgiou says she was lucky not to be “infected with a conscience.” She says, “A monster with regrets is useless.” Alok asserts this is why Georgiou was working at a bar in the middle of nowhere. Georgiou postulates this is why Alok is working with 31: an attempt at redemption. Alok says people like them always have a price to pay, which is why they’re both there.
Georgiou spots liquid on a tree and determines that Zeph’s exoskeleton is leaking. They follow the trail. At the end of it, they find Zeph dead. Fuzz begins reciting the names of his 190,000 offspring in anticipation of being murdered as well. Quasi asks how one of them could have been responsible when they’ve all been within each other’s sight the whole time. But Georgiou finds a hair that seems to belong to Garrett. Back at the array, further investigation locates blood under her fingernails. This is matched with Zeph’s blood.

Soon, Garrett is restrained. Georgiou says murder isn’t “very Starfleet.” But Garrett insists she is very Starfleet. She maintains her innocence and integrity. Georgiou accuses her of being a chaos goblin. She says Garrett fits right into Section 31. Garrett says Georgiou can torture her, but she’ll never be a murderer.

An alert informs the team that footage has finished uploading from Zeph’s suit. This shows that Zeph was seemingly murdered by his own suit. Quasi wonders why he would kill himself. The team begins arguing with one another once again. But Georgiou determines that Fuzz set the Vulcan machine on autopilot and infiltrated Zeph’s exoskeleton. Then, Fuzz took control and used Zeph to send the messages before killing him with his own suit and planting the evidence.
J’accuse
Fuzz pleads for his life … but only as a distraction. He’s still hacked into Zeph’s exoskeleton. “Zeph” and Fuzz escape into the tunnels on a hover transport. Alok, Georgiou and Quasi give pursuit using another transport. They leave Garrett behind, but she does manage to free herself.

Soon, the two transports are involved in a chase. Alok, Georgiou and Quasi catch up and begin fighting “Zeph” and Fuzz as the transports travel at an incredible speed. Alok is thrown overboard, but Quasi uses his shapeshifting abilities to catch him. The other transport continues with “Zeph,” Fuzz and Georgiou aboard. “Zeph” is thrown overboard as well. Eventually, the transport leaves the tunnels and comes to a stop high above the surface of the planet. There, Fuzz manages to throw Georgiou overboard.

But Georgiou holds on and returns, stabbing Fuzz in the back. She demands to know who he’s working with. Fuzz asks why she cares when she murdered her own family. He also has knowledge of Georgiou’s relationship with San. Georgiou asks how he could know such things. Fuzz reveals San is alive, having built up an immunity to the poison. Further, Fuzz accuses Georgiou of being responsible for the situation. Then, he beams away.
In orbit around the planet, a ship jumps to warp. There, the interloper from Part 1 is revealed to be San. He removes the knife from Fuzz’s body suit. San has the Godsend, which he activates. This begins a countdown.
