Once upon a time, Star Trek: Prodigy had already had its second season confirmed. But then all of the already-released Prodigy Season 1 episodes were removed from streaming. Furthermore, the in-production second season was put on indefinite hold. Fortunately, Netflix stepped in to provide a home for the instant classic animated Star Trek series. Now, we have a premiere date for the highly anticipated Prodigy Season 2. Best of all, it’s less than one month away.
Star Trek: Prodigy Season 2
Trekkies were crushed when Prodigy Season 1 vanished from the Paramount+ streaming service with little warning. This is especially true because the show’s second season promised even more follow-up for Star Trek: Voyager‘s many dangling storylines.

Now, it seems the show’s second season will arrive for streaming on Netflix on the first day of July 2024. However, it’s worth noting this date comes from a notification on the app. There has yet to be an official release date announcement. We also don’t know whether the whole season will arrive in one drop or be released episode by episode. However, you can check the title in your Netflix account now and confirm that it bears a “new season coming soon” banner, suggesting the arrival date is accurate.
Prodigy isn’t the only animated sci-fi series Netflix has rescued from another streamer. On Friday, the excellent Scavengers Reign Season 1 appeared for streaming. Previously, Reign made its streaming debut on Max. However, its arrival on Netflix has given fans of the series hope for additional episodes. Perhaps Netflix will consider greenlighting additional seasons of Prodigy and even other canceled shows like Star Trek: Lower Decks, should these animated sci-fi shows perform well.
