Star Trek: Prodigy “Brink”
Months ago, on Stardate 61914.3, Asencia (Jameela Jamil) oversaw a wormhole test on Solum. But the test was interrupted by the arrival of Wesley Crusher (Wil Wheaton). He halts the test. While he is able to incapacitate several guards, he’s captured by Asencia nevertheless.
On the USS Voyager-A, Gwyn (Ella Purnell) records a personal log, stardate 62083.5. Returning the USS Protostar to Tars Lamora has been delayed. Voyager has been diverted to Solum, in order to deal with the temporal tech the Rev-1 utilized in the previous episode.
In the observation lounge, Gwyn looks out the window. Meanwhile, Kathryn Janeway (Kate Mulgrew) addresses Gwyn, Chakotay (Robert Beltran), The Doctor (Robert Picardo), Counselor Noum (Jason Alexander) and Tysess (Daveed Diggs). They discuss the fact that Starfleet’s limited resources mean a war with Solum is untenable.
Gwyn says she isn’t Starfleet and neither is her crew. They could gather intel on Asencia’s weapons without violating Jellico’s orders or the Prime Directive. Janeway says Gwyn must lead the team. Gwyn agrees but says she also wants to rescue her father, Ilthuran (John Noble). Janeway determines that Ilthuran could be helpful in achieving peace.
Best Laid Plans
Dal R’el (Brett Gray), Rok-Tahk (Rylee Alazraqui), Jankom Pog (Jason Mantzoukas), Zero (Angus Imrie) and Murf (Dee Bradley Baker) are caught eavesdropping outside the lounge. Janeway tells Gwyn she’s trusting her. Gwyn tells the crew they have a mission to plan.
Soon they’re in their ready room planning the mission. Gwyn recounts the plan. They must conceal that they are Starfleet. Using scans, they’ll determine the location of the weapon. But because they won’t be able to be beamed out, they have a single-use site-to-site transporter to make their escape. Maj’el (Michaela Dietz) enters. Dal notes the mission is for non-Starfleet personnel only. Maj’el reveals she has resigned from Nova Squadron so she can take part.

Rok has modified a forcefield into a cloak generator. However, it is rudimentary at best. The Protostar crew are summoned to the bridge. Scans have determined there is a fleet on Solum preparing to launch. Asencia wants war. In the transporter bay, Gwyn worries about failure. But Dal assures her they’re going to follow her lead.
The vibe on Solum has changed since the last time we saw it. Now, Drednoks (Jimmi Simpson) patrol the streets. Our heroes huddle together under the cloak generator. They are almost detected several times. then they receive a message from the Uprising. The source is Ilthuran’s observatory.
Soon the heroes are investigating his observatory. But they’re interrupted by Asencia. But it’s the younger version of her. She says she hopes never to become her older self. This Asencia has been helping Ilthuran organize the uprising. Asencia reveals her older self has captured Wes. She says Ilthuran is being sent on a one-way trip to the wastes. But do they rescue Wes or Ilthuran?
Wes or Ilthuran?
To both save Solum and fix the time loop, they need both Wes and Ilthuran. Gwyn determines they’ll split the group. Dal questions this at first but quickly falls in line. Gwyn gives Dal’s team the transporter. She says she’s rescuing Wes, who can Traveler them out of there. Dal says they have their back.
Gwyn, Rok, Zero and Murf approach the lab where Wes should be kept. But unbeknownst to them, their cloak is failing. The guards outside the lab approach. When they realize they’ve been spotted, our heroes incapacitate the guards and head inside. But the guards are spotted by a Drednok.

Elsewhere, Ilthuran and other prisoners are being loaded onto the prison train. Dal, Jankom, Maj’el and young Asencia have spotted him. While Dal suggests stealing the train, Maj’el suggests a more subtle approach. They infiltrate the train. Ilthuran recognizes Dal. Later, Ilthuran thanks them for saving his life.
Meanwhile, Gwyn’s team infiltrates the lab and searches for Wes. Another guard is incapacitated, but the door controls are damaged in the firefight. Fortunately, Murf is able to squeeze inside through a hole. But to buy him the time to do so, Zero and Gwyn collaborate on a ruse accomplished by puppeteering the unconscious guard.
Murf gets inside the room and lets the rest of them after. Inside is Wes, but he’s somewhat disoriented. Wes says this is all part of his plan. The wormhole will be the method of fixing the Protostar time loop. After this, Ilthuran will lead Solum to a better future. However, his powers aren’t working. Fortunately, Wes has a backdoor planned.
The Watcher Collapses
But once they’re outside, Wes realizes the whole group isn’t present. Wes begins to freak out. He says they had to stay together. Unfortunately, Gwyn has shifted them onto an unknown path by splitting the group. That’s when Dal, Ilthuran and the others arrive. But they’ve been captured by the older Asencia.
