Black Alert! This weekend, the Star Trek: Lower Decks: The Badgey Directive mobile game is adding the first crew member from Star Trek: Discovery to the game. And in addition, another Discovery incarnation of a beloved Star Trek: The Original Series character can be unlocked during the event.

The Badgey Directive vs. Star Trek: Discovery

This weekend’s limited event in The Badgey Directive is entitled “Time And Again.” It is based on the instant-classic Discovery season 1 episode “Magic to Make the Sanest Man Go Mad.” The event gives our beloved Lower Deckers the chance to step into the narrative role played by Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green).

The new character who is available as a Milestone Reward for the event is Harry Mudd. Played by Rainn Wilson on Discovery, the character was originated by Roger C. Carmel on TOS. But his addition is especially appropriate for Lower Decks. For one thing, series creator Mike McMahan wrote a Star Trek: Short Treks episode about Mudd. Plus, this Short Trek was heavily referenced in Star Trek: Lower Decks season 4’s penultimate episode, “The Inner Fight.”

Meanwhile, Paul Stamets, played by Anthony Rapp on Discovery, is the other new character to be added to The Badgey Directive. However, Stamets is available as a Leaderboard Reward for the top 20 players in each crew. So while everyone who plays has the opportunity to unlock Mudd, only the highest ranking players will unlock Stamets this weekend.

In summer 2023, The Badgey Directive added characters from Star Trek: Strange New Worlds to the game. And with the addition of Discovery characters, only one major Star Trek series is currently unrepresented by characters in TBD. This is Star Trek: Prodigy. But given this Disco addition, perhaps players can look forward to eventually unlocking Dal R’El, Gwyn and the rest of the Prodigy cast. Maybe when Prodigy‘s second season arrives on Netflix later in 2024?
