8 Excellent STAR TREK Hallmark Ornaments

It’s time to Trek the halls! With just a month until the holiday, the time has come to set up our Trekmas trees and cover them in Hallmark Star Trek ornaments.

For this week’s Trek Tuesday, we’re spotlighting eight of our favorite Star Trek holiday ornaments. Did we include your favorite? Do you have an especially rare one hanging from your tree? Be sure to let us know on our Bluesky page.

Vulcan High Command Ship

Our first selection is the Vulcan High Command Ship. Released in 2004, this ship features blue lights that illuminate when the ornament cord is plugged into the tree’s light string. A perfectly logical selection.

While this is technically a selection from Star Trek: Enterprise, similar ships have subsequently appeared on other Franchise shows, including Star Trek: Lower Decks

NX-01 Enterprise

The NX-01 Enterprise ornament hanging on the Trekmas tree.

The NX-01 Enterprise is, of course, from Enterprise. Released in 2002, this ornament is solid metal with two translucent red “jewels” on the nacelle tips and a gold deflector dish up front. Because it’s metal, it’s heavier than many of the other ornaments appearing on this list.

The NX-01 comes with a display stand that includes its own hangar. The battery-powered stand has a button that can be pressed to hear Captain Archer say several characteristic statements from the show. However, we prefer to hang this ship on the tree alongside our other Enterprises.

Voyager

The U.S.S. Voyager ornament hanging on the Trekmas tree.

Our next ornament was originally released in 1996 and celebrates Star Trek: Voyager. It’s the titular ship, back from the Delta Quadrant and ready to appear on our tree. Like the Vulcan High Command Ship, this ornament lights up when its cord is plugged into the light string.

Naturally, the appearance of Voyager may have you wondering about the possibility of Star Trek: Prodigy ornaments. While none are currently available, Prodigy series writer Aaron J. Waltke has Skeeted that a Hologram Janeway ornament will arrive from Hallmark next year.

The Delta Flyer

The Delta Flyer ornament hanging on the Trekmas tree.

Speaking of Voyager, we also adore our Delta Flyer ornament. It was released in 2002. Like Voyager and the Vulcan High Command Ship, this ornament lights up when you plug it into the light string.

In addition to Voyager, the Delta Flyer later appeared on Lower Decks in the episode “Reflections.” So, in the absence of any Lower Decks ships having been released by Hallmark, we’re considering this a ship from both shows.

Badgey

The smiling Badgey ornament hanging on the Trekmas tree.

Fortunately, there is one Lower Decks ornament from Hallmark — and it’s actually two ornaments. Released in 2023, the two-ornament Badgey set includes both a smiling Badgey ornament and an “always monitoring comms” Badgey ornament.

Obviously, everyone loves Badgey. But after the events of Lower Decks Season 4’s “A Few Badgeys More,” he might be an even more appropriate addition. This is thanks to the fact that he ultimately transcends his existence in this dimension and becomes an omniscient deity-like entity. Now, we just need a Cosmic Koala ornament.

The Hand of Apollo

The Hand of Apollo grabbing the U.S.S. Enterprise ornament hanging on the Trekmas tree.

Another excellent Star Trek Hallmark release from 2023 is the Hand of Apollo. It depicts a scene from Star Trek: The Original Series Season 2’s “Who Mourns for Adonais?” In that episode, a giant green glowing hand grabbed the U.S.S. Enterprise … and then things got weird.

The illuminated portion of this ornament works differently than those previously listed. Instead of plugging a cord into the tree lights, you take one of the tree string’s bulbs and insert it into the hand. Fortunately, this method of illumination works quite effectively.

Defiant

The U.S.S. Defiant ornament hanging on the Trekmas tree.

One of everyone’s favorite Star Trek ships becomes one of everyone’s favorite ornaments with 1997’s U.S.S. Defiant. Inspired by the unusual Starfleet ship from Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, this ornament is another that lights up when the cord is plugged into the tree’s lights.

We only have one question about this “tough little ship”: is it the original or the replacement? The same question can be asked about the Delta Flyer.

Discovery

The U.S.S. Discovery ornament hanging on the Trekmas tree.

Finally, there is the U.S.S. Discovery from Star Trek: Discovery. While this ornament was released this year as an online exclusive, it was originally released in 2018. Unlike many other ornaments featured on this list, its illuminated elements are the result of battery power. To activate the ornament lights for a few seconds, you press the button just behind the saucer.

Hopefully, Hallmark will continue to re-release some of the older ornaments, giving people a chance to fill in gaps in their collection. Plus, there are still plenty of Star Trek ships that have yet to be represented. When will we be able to hang a U.S.S. Cerritos on our Trekmas tree? Hopefully, we won’t have to wait too long.

This year’s Star Trek ornament releases are available on the official Hallmark website.
