Star Trek Gift Guide

For the Festive Trekkie

Are you shopping for someone who has an interest in Trekking the Halls this winter season? Then consider a Star Trek ornament. Each year, Hallmark releases several Franchised-themed ornaments and decorations to take your Trekmas beyond Warp 10. This year, new editions include an ornament celebrating Star Trek: The Next Generation‘s “Unification,” Captain Pike from Star Trek: Strange New Worlds and a re-release of the titular ship from Star Trek: Discovery. Most of these are available from your local Hallmark store. However, Discovery and some other selections are online exclusives. Plan your course accordingly!

Another idea for the Festive Trekkie in your life is holiday Franchise sweatshirts. Designed to look like the beloved “ugly Xmas sweater,” one of Ancient Earth’s most baffling traditions, these sweatshirts ensure everyone will know the wearer understands the reason for the season: holiday Star Trek puns. Selections include “Make It Snow” ft. Picard, “Trek the Halls” ft. Star Trek: The Original Series and “Merry Trekmas” ft. “Those Old Scientists.” You can find them at the official Star Trek shop website.

For the Disco Fan

Are you shopping for a fan who isn’t over the cancellation of Discovery? First, we can relate. Second, they will plotz over Star Trek: The Art of Glenn Hetrick’s Alchemy Studios: Revealing the Magic of Prosthetic Makeup by Joe Nazzaro. This oversize art book is loaded of photos and illustrations revealing the design process behind the incredible prosthetic effects that took your breath away onscreen. Plus, it features material from all five seasons of Discovery. Give the gift of learning how Sacred Geometry influenced the appearance of Species 10-C! The Art of Glenn Hetrick’s Alchemy Studios is available at your local bookstore now.

For the Tabletop Gamer

The box cover for Star Trek: Lower Decks: Buffer Time: The Card Game.

Do you know a Trekkie who is a fan of tabletop RPGs? Then consider the Star Trek Adventures: The Roleplaying Game Second Edition Core Rulebook. This updated core rulebook offers a Galaxy-class vessel’s worth of guidelines for playing Star Trek: Adventures with their away team. It’s filled with beautiful illustrations, in-character log entries and an exhaustive index that will keep you in control during even the wildest sessions. Consider pairing with some themed d20s!

Or perhaps you know a Lower Decker who enjoys tabletop games? Look no further than Star Trek: Lower Decks: Buffer Time. This “push-your-luck” cooperative card game is fast to learn but offers endless fun. Filled with references and images from Lower Decks, everything you need to play comes inside the handsome (and surprisingly affordable) box. Just make sure you avoid Captain Freeman while playing during your duty shift — and her little Ransom, too!

For the Janeway

Three Star Trek themed mugs: Klingon, Starfleet and Vulcan.

Shopping for a Trekkie whose passion for coffee rivals that of Kathryn Janeway herself? Look no further than Pop Culture Coffee’s Star Trek-themed beans. Available in a variety of flavors, and both pre-ground and whole bean varieties, these coffees are sure to ensure one’s day is filled with boldly going. And best of all, they also offer a number of gift sets that include a bag of coffee accompanied by a hand-thrown mug. The most honorable part of waking up is drinking from your Klingon-themed cup!

For the Chilly Trekkie

Space is cold. So a perfect gift for the chilly Trekkie on your list is a blanket! No matter what the recipients’ favorite series might be, there’s an option available to keep them warm as they curl up to marathon Star Trek this winter. There are Sherpa blankets that feature Star Trek: Prodigy, a GLAAD trans pride delta and uniforms from Discovery and The Next Generation. Another blanket spotlights Chateau Picard and yet another has a pattern featuring the U.S.S. Titan as seen on Lower Decks. These (and many more) are available on the official Star Trek shop site.

For the Lower Decker

Let’s face it: it’s hard not to want to be a crew member aboard the U.S.S. Cerritos. Or at least to be integrally involved in the crews’ lives in some way. If someone you’re shopping for fits into this category, there is a perfect gift for them: Star Trek: Lower Decks: Warp Your Own Way. Written by Ryan North with art by Chris Fenoglio, coloring by Charlie Kirchoff and lettering by Jeff Eckleberry, this expectation-defying interactive graphic novel is an essential addition to any Lower Decker’s bookshelf. Warp Your Own Way is available at a local bookstore near you now.

This includes Prodigy and Strange New Worlds, plus complete sets of DiscoveryPicard, and the earlier shows as well. And every single set includes bonus features, with many of the more recently released shows boasting audio commentaries. Plus, all of the big screen stories have been released on disc as well, including those from the Kelvin timeline. Ensure they’ll always be able to visit their favorite starships anytime.
