On Saturday, December 2, 2023, Paramount+ debuted a first-look clip from Star Trek: Discovery‘s forthcoming fifth and final season. In addition to the clip, which features Captain Michael Burnham (Sonequa Martin-Green) and Cleveland “Booker” Book (David Ajala) facing off against strange new antagonists, the release month for Discovery‘s final season was also announced.

The clip and release month announcement were made at CCXP in São Paulo, Brazil. Furthermore, the clip was introduced by Martin-Green and Michelle Paradise, executive producer and showrunner for Discovery.

In addition to the clip and release month, Paramount+ debuted an official photo of the cast for Discovery‘s final season (see cover image). Along with Martin-Green and Ajala, it includes returning stars Mary Wiseman as Tilly, Anthony Rapp as Paul Stamets, Doug Jones as Saru, Wilson Cruz as Culber and Blu Del Barrio as Adira.

The season will also introduce new characters. Included in the cast photo is Callum Keith Rennie as Raynor. In addition, recurring guest stars include Elias Toufexis as L’ak and Eve Harlow as Moll. These new characters were previously announced (and you can get a look at them right here).

Unseen Foes

Meanwhile, the clip spotlights Burnham and Booker in a tense face-off against some so-far mostly-unseen antagonists (it’s a cloak joke). These seem like K’ranch-sized aliens, but ones with cloaking devices and far fewer moral restraints. We’ll be counting down the days until we learn more about them.
