Star Trek: Discovery is set to start production on season two, soon. And, they’ve just added a new guest star to the series. Comedian Tig Notaro has been cast as Chief Engineer Denise Reno, according to Deadline.
Denise Reno is a new character that is stationed on the USS Hiawatha. That’s really all we know about her. There haven’t been many details released about the character, and she’s not canon. There’s also no information about which or how many episodes she’ll appear in during season two. So, it’s time for wild speculation! Go!

Notaro is the second new addition to Discovery announced this week. Earlier this week, it was announced that Anson Mount (Inhumans, Hell on Wheels) will play Captain Christopher Pike of the USS Enterprise. Pike was heard from, but not seen at the end of season one. I won’t spoil that further. Needless to say, the news of a new character introduction coupled with the news of the casting of an established character fans are thirsty to see further developed is making this Star Trek fan pretty excited for season two.
In addition to Discovery, Notaro can be seen in her recent shows, Tig and One Mississippi. And, she’ll appear in Instant Family, which will premiere in 2019. Stay tuned for more Star Trek: Discovery news!
