Almost 25 years ago, Star Trek: Deep Space Nine (DS9) premiered.  Many had low expectations for the show that succeeded 7 years of Star Trek: The Next Generation. There would be no more voyages with Captain Picard (Patrick Stewart), Commander Riker (Jonathan Frakes) and the rest of the crew; instead, these would be new stories with a new crew and a unique setting.

Unlike the other Star Trek shows, Deep Space Nine was set on a Cardassian Space Station in orbit around the planet of Bajor. While a space station might not have seemed exciting to a lot of Star Trek fans, the amount of drama and intrigue on DS9 was considerable. Captain Sisko (Avery Brooks) proved to be a wise choice for commanding DS9, and his second officer, Bajoran militia office, Major Kira (Nana Visitor), was a perfect counterbalance.  We were introduced to the iconic U.S.S. Defiant, we had wormhole adventures into the Delta Quadrant, and we had a deeper look into Cardassian and Bajoran societies. Then we had the Founders, the Dominion, and the Dominion War.

Now 25 years later, some of the cast and crew reunited for a Variety photo shoot to celebrate Deep Space Nine’s anniversary. On hand were Executive Producers Ira Steven Behr and Rick Berman, Aron Eisenberg (Nog), Marc Alaimo (Gul Dukat), Cirroc Lofton (Jake Sisko), Michael Dorn (Worf), Terry Farrell (Jadzia Dax), Nana Visitor (Kira Nerys), Armin Shimerman (Quark), Nicole de Boer (Ezri Dax), Jeffrey Combs (Weyoun), Penny Johnson Jerald (Kasidy Yates), Rene Auberjonois (Odo), and Chase Masterson (Leeta). Notably missing from the shoot were series regulars Avery Brooks, Colm Meany (Chief Miles O’Brien), Alexander Siddig (Dr. Julian Bashir) and recurring actors Rosalind Chao (Keiko O’Brien), Andrew Robinson (Garak) and Max Grodénchik (Rom).

Below are some of the photos shared by Rene Auberjoinois and Nana Visitor via their Instagram and Twitter feeds. The nostalgia is very much real in these photos.
