Rumors have flown for months that Jake Gyllenhaal could be involved in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Well, he confirmed on Wednesday that the rumors are true. After joining Instagram for the first time, he announced in a hilarious video that he will be playing the villian, Mysterio.

In the Instagram video, Gyllenhaal is deep in The Amazing Spider-Man Issue #311: The Return of the Man Called Mysterio! and he’s shocked that he’s not the one playing the good guy. So shocked, in fact, he almost gets caught saying a bad word before the video cuts off!

It is an interesting turn for the actor, as Gyllenhaal was very close to replacing Toby McGuire in that Spider-Man movie series. But, his Mysterio will face Tom Holland in the sequel, and we’re glad about it. Even though there’s no confirmation on which version of Mysterio he’ll be playing, we like Gyllenhaal better this way. And, we’ll have to see where the sequel finds Spider-Man, after Avengers 4 goes down.
