New to the Spider-Verse

Eight new recurring cast members join the cast of the upcoming Spider-Noir series, Deadline reports. Lukas Haas (Babylon, Inception) Cameron Britton (Mindhunters, The Umbrella Academy), Cary Christopher (Days of Our Lives), Michael Kostroff (The Wire), Scott MacArthur (El Camino: A Breaking Bad Movie), Joe Massingill (Barry), Whitney Rice (Jury Duty, Suits) and Amanda Schull (Suits) have all been cast alongside series lead Nicolas Cage. So far, their roles are under wraps.

Here’s a synopsis of the series from Amazon Studios: “Spider-Noir tells the story of an aging and down-on-his-luck private investigator (Cage) in 1930s New York, who is forced to grapple with his past life as the city’s one and only superhero.”

Previously Announced

While it’s been known for a while that Cage would reprise his role as Spider-Noir for the series, fans got a few more major casting announcements earlier this month. Irish actor Brendan Gleeson (The Banshees of Inisherin, Joker: Folie à Deux) was cast in an unnamed mob boss role. Also confirmed is Lamorne Morris (New Girl, Fargo), fresh off an Emmy win and a hilarious guest role on Ghosts. Morris will play Robbie Robertson, a driven, dedicated journalist who will do whatever it takes to advance his career.

Behind the Scenes

Oren Uziel of 22 Jump Street and Steve Lightfoot of Marvel’s The Punisher are co-showrunners and executive producers. The two developed Spider-Noir with the team behind Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse: Phil Lord, Christopher Miller and Amy Pascal. Harry Bradbeer (Fleabag, Enola Holmes) will helm and executive produce the show’s first two episodes.
