Out of Deadline today we’ve got news that Sony and Marvel is a closer to knowing who the director for their first Spider-Man film will be. The report says that it’s between Ted Melfi, who wrote/directed St. Vincent, and Jonathan Levine, director of Warm Bodies. While these two guys seem to be the main contenders, there are a couple other names on the list. Apparently John Francis Daley & Jonathan M. Goldstein, the team behind the next Vacation film, are still on the list, as if new-comer Jon Watts, a commercial director who made his feature debut with a Kevin Bacon film called Cop Car. He’s also one of the geniuses behind that fake Eli Roth Clown trailer from a couple years back.

This comes on the heels of the news, yesterday, that Marvel held a secret casting over the weekend to find their new Peter Parker. Along with that, the Deadline report also adds that Asa Butterfield and Tom Holland are currently in the lead for landing the dream role of Peter Parker.
