SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY Ad Shows We’re in for a Ride

Solo: A Star Wars Story will be out soon and a lot of fans are looking forward to it’s release. In the past few days alone, we’ve gotten 2 new ads, a film clip and a 360 video showing off the gambling table. There’s been a lot to digest, really. In the latest ad though, it shares all the beats we should be looking forward to in the film including tone and a bunch of nostalgia for us to cheer (or maybe groan) at.

We start back at the gambling table where the dealer shuffles cards and Lando (Donald Glover) is amused, saying he “likes this kid”, referring to Han (Alden Ehrenreich). We’re again reminded of “the job” as new scenes are sprinkled in, including new shots of the casino, a nice group shot of some of the gang and more. We’re also treated to a lot of flying shots of the Falcon as well as the speeder Han uses as a getaway car. The most fun and nostalgia comes at the end when a certain Dejarik board is being played.

The 30 second ad is pretty sporadic with all the cuts throughout it. It takes up your full attention just to catch all the clips that are thrown in. I feel that it’s also worth noting that Tobias Beckett (Woody Harrelson) seems to be in a larger role that I initially gave him credit for. Very curious about his arc in the film. I’m also still pretty worried about Val (Thandie Newton), she has not been in the ads enough. Where is she? I’m also keeping my eye on Qi’Ra (Emilia Clarke), she seems to be playing her own game and her own con within the crew. You’ll have to tell us what you think!
