Stay with us here, there’s some background.

Last week, Ben Affleck and Anna Kendrick appeared on MTV’s After Hours to do an interview for their upcoming film, The Accountant. While on that interview, Kendrick begged Affleck to cast her as Robin in the upcoming Batman film, which as you most likely know, Affleck is writing, directing and starring in as the famous vigilante.

This started a firestorm of fun speculation that basically wondered — what if? It’s most likely that Kendrick, were she to take on the mantle of Robin, would be the plucky Carrie Kelley incarnation of the character, the Robin that we see teaming up with the older Batman in Frank Miller’s run, Dark Knight Returns.

Well now there’s even more fuel to throw onto the fun-loving pyre of hopeful speculation. Anna Kendrick posed for an Instagram pic with Joe Manganiello. Manganiello, as you most likely already know, has been cast as the villain, Slade Wilson, a.k.a. Deathstroke, in the upcoming Batman film, simply titled The Batman. The fact that the two of them posed together suggests that maybe, just maybe, they were both going in to meet about a certain project about a certain caped crusader.

And, in one final dose of internet goodness, photoshop guru Boss Logic released a remake of Manganiello’s Instagram post with the two characters redone to resemble their possible comic book counterparts and, honestly, they look pretty damn near perfect. The only question now, of course, is will Anna Kendrick still be able to take on the role of Squirrel Girl that the internet is dying for her to take over at Marvel.
