Highlights:
- AMC has picked up the fourth and final season of sci-fi drama Snowpiercer.
- In January 2023, TNT scrapped the series after three seasons, resulting in Tomorrow Studios shopping it to other studios along with potential offshoots.
- Seasons 1 through 3 will be available to stream on AMC+ in late 2024, with Season 4 premiering on AMC and the streaming platform in early 2025.
Snowpiercer
The Eternal Engine will provide for us once again. Deadline reports that AMC has swooped in to save the day, picking up Snowpiercer for its fourth and final season. The studio acquired the rights to debut Season 4 along with the first three seasons on the linear network and streaming service.
After TNT scrapped the sci-fi drama in January 2023, Tomorrow Studios began shopping the completed season to various studios with pitches for a potential prequel and sequel. Deadline doesn’t mention whether AMC has considered expanding the Snowpiercer universe, but I’d wager that if Season 4 brings in good numbers, the possibility might be on the table.

Snowpiercer was one of many projects to be axed by Warner Bros. Discovery in 2023 for tax write-off purposes.
The End of Season 3
If you recall, Season 3 ends with Layton (Daveed Diggs) taking a group of passengers off Big Alice to see what New Eden will bring. However, Melanie (Jennifer Connelly) and her crew remain on board the titular perpetual engine. In the final moments of the finale, we jump to three months later when Melanie spies a missile launched from afar.
Season 4
In addition to Connelly and Diggs, the series stars Rowan Blanchard, Alison Wright, Mickey Sumner, Iddo Goldberg, Katie McGuinness, Lena Hall, Sam Otto, Chelsea Harris, Mike O’Malley, Roberto Urbina and Sheila Vand. Clark Gregg and Michael Aronov are joining Season 4, with the latter playing Dr. Nima Rousseau. Paul Zbyszewski is the new showrunner, taking up the mantle after Graeme Manson.

The first three seasons of the series will air on AMC+ in late 2024, and Season 4 will premiere on AMC and the aforementioned streaming platform in early 2025. However, for now, you can watch Seasons 1 through 3 on Prime Video.
I’m excited, y’all. We’ll finally get to watch the finished product, and the hard work of this cast and crew will see the light of day. Bring it on.
