Chaos and corruption follow Mr. Wilford wherever he goes. This is especially emphasized in the official trailer for Snowpiercer Season Two. Sean Bean joins the cast as the show’s Big Bad and enigmatic leader of the Engine Eternal. Of course, we know the truth — that Melanie Cavill (Jennifer Connelly) is the actual architect of Snowpiercer. Additionally, she was pretending to be Mr. Wilford for several years. But now that Andre Layton’s (Daveed Diggs) revolution has successfully overtaken the train, the power has shifted. Well, until Wilford (Bean) made his triumphant return.

By the looks of this trailer, Wilford’s reemergence stirs up trouble for Snowpiercer, especially given the tenuous alliance between Melanie and Layton. As it turns out, Melanie’s daughter Alexandra (Rowan Blanchard) has been living with Wilford and, over the years, morphed into his avid protégé. We can see the clashing between Melanie and Alexandra as the latter refuses to accept her mother with open arms for fear of abandonment.

Additionally, Layton makes it abundantly clear that Wilford will have to go through him and the Snowpiercer crew in order to seize the train. We see shots of occupants, primarily Tailies and Bess Till (Mickey Sumner), preparing to take down Wilford by any means necessary. There’s even a brief clip of what looks like Miss Audrey (Lena Hall) seducing Wilford, presumably to bring him low. All in all, the trailer does exactly what it’s supposed to do: drum up excitement for the impending season.

While Season One started out as a slow burn, the second half of the season was packed with fast-paced action and compelling performances, particularly from Connelly. Snowpiercer‘s message is timely and relevant given the events of 2020. Not to mention, Layton’s revolution is empowering and altogether inspiring. I, for one, am stoked for Season Two’s arrival. Connelly, Diggs and Bean are consummate performers who’ll undoubtedly lead the charge for an action-heavy second outing.
