Staring blankly at a television in shock at how good comic book TV shows can be — that describes last night’s episode of CW’s hit DC Comics show, The Flash.

With this series trying to pull off so much wacky comic book goodness — time travel, alternate Earths, doppelgängers and Killer Croc — last night’s episode was a reminder that this show can be infinitely better than it has any right to be.

Not only was it a solid episode, but we also had references to the Legion of Superheroes and Supergirl, on CBS, our first real look that those two realities are in the same multiverse.

The show left Barry Allen (Grant Gustin) and Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes) at some of the lowest points we’ve ever seen them. Barry, The Flash himself, is in prison, helpless and face to face with Zoom and a terrified Jesse Quick behind him. Cisco, or Vibe as he will become, just watched his Earth-2 doppelgänger die in front of him, killed by Zoom after showing Cisco just how insanely powerful he actually is.

Talking with Comicbook.com earlier this week, producers talked about where Cisco now finds himself, having met his evil Earth-2 counterpart, Reverb. Aaron Helbing said, “I feel like once you’re exposed to something that’s possible — it’s like the first time Tony Hawk did a 720 on the skateboard, everyone could do it. Now that Cisco has seen the magnitude of what his powers are capable of, everything’s possible in his mind.”

This translates as — expect to see a lot more Vibe as the season moves on.

So what can we expect from next week?

According to this sneak peek, we can expect to see Harrison Wells (Tom Cavanaugh) and Cisco Ramon teaming up with Killer Frost (Danielle Panabaker) and the Earth-2 versions of Iris West (Candice Patton) and Barry. Barry, by the way, is a bit of a dandy and, maybe, has a bit of coward in him it seems.
