Set the weekend before Halloween in 2007, Small Town Emo follows the story of Ken, a 17-year-old emo with a crush on his best friend Fergus. In the days leading up to the costume party, Ken spends the day trying to find the courage to confess his feelings. Can Ken figure things out, or is he doomed to post depressing song lyrics as his Messenger status ‘til the end of time?

Let’s get down to the basics for this LGBTQ+ game. Small Town Emo is a nostalgic, retro-style adventure set in the greatest era of internet slang and music history. The gameplay is easy to understand with simple keyboard controls that play like a GAMEBOY walking simulator. You guide Ken through his awkward, friends-to-lovers teenage daydream adventure set in a small New Zealand town.
You advance the plot by talking to characters, solving simple puzzles, making (occasional) dialogue choices and exploring an era of the recent past. Navigate through the complexities of a teenage crush and let the story of young love ease you into the heat of summer.

So why should you play Small Town Emo? This is a wholesome, delightfully nostalgic story of a young emo kid taking his first chance at love. It is a great Pride Month play with LGBT representation, from creator Fnife Games, which has been making waves with several award nominations.
This is a game preview so the playtime is short. The pimple-popping mini-game and chat-boxed-based system are integrated well so they don’t add much time to learn.
