Beatrix LeBeau is back in Slime Ranger 2! We got the announcement for this game a few months back, but now gamers have a better look at the gameplay via an extended trailer. The new trailer was shown off during the 2022 Xbox Games Showcase Extended and a lot has changed for our little rancher.
Victor, one of the NPCs for the first Slime Rancher, narrates the new trailer. He sports a new icon, and it appears that at least parts of the game are getting an updated art style. He is the only other returning character we see, besides Beatrix herself, but I hope we get new NPCs to go along with the host of new slimes.
Along with the new slimes and location, the trailer suggests that the Slime Key mechanic from the first game has been replaced by a matching gemstone mechanic instead. Before you were able to open any door with any key, but if the gems can only be obtained in a specific order then the game will unlock more in a more linear pattern now.

As for the plot, the Steam page reads: Slime Rancher 2 is a sequel to the award-winning, smash-hit original that has been enjoyed by over 10 million fans worldwide. Continue the adventures of Beatrix LeBeau as she journeys to Rainbow Island, a mysterious land brimming with ancient technology, unknown natural resources, and an avalanche of wiggling, jiggling, new slimes to discover.
As Beatrix attempts to unravel the island’s secrets and uncover its true purpose, she’ll build, ranch and farm within a beautiful conservatory, whose sparkling glass walls give her a full view of the prismatic paradise she now calls home.
