Behind the scenes on Silver & Black got a bit more exciting. According to THR, the Sony outing of two Spider-Verse heroines (or anti-heroines depending on the story) gained two female screenwriters. And all is right in the world. These two writers have been blowing up in Hollywood and have some pretty great geek-cred in their resume. So just who are these wondrous, witty writers?

According to THR, Lindsey Beer and Geneva Robertson-Dworet will be tackling the Marvel characters in a sure-to-be fun script. Beer has worked on Transformers: The Last Knight, the film adaption of Chaos Walking, Godzilla vs. Kong and even Quentin Tarantino‘s upcoming Star Trek film plus the film adaptation of The Kingkiller Chronicle. Robertson-Dworet has Tomb Raider, Captain Marvel and the (possibly) upcoming Gotham City Sirens under her belt. So needless to say, these ladies are in very high demand!

The script has already been through a few hands with director Gina Prince-Bythewood writing the first draft and Chris Yost and Lisa Joy taking other stabs at it. But it seems that Beer and Robertson-Dworet may be the ones to bring it to the big screen. And I’m really excited. For one, we have 4 women behind the film now. Prince-Bythewood directing, Beer and Robertson-Dworet writing plus Amy Pascal will be producing. All women in power in a female-centric film. Yes! To! That! Plus the material has the potential to be excellent – it’s all looking up from here. We still don’t know too much on the film but I’m looking forward to hearing more about it. On a personal note, I’ve always found Black Cat to just be a blatant copy of my favorite heroine/anti-heroine Catwoman. But I’m optimistic on what they do with her character.
