Season 2 of Silo Is on Its Way
At SDCC fans of the dystopian mystery-thriller Silo were treated to a panel featuring the cast, creator, and showrunner of the series. Hosted by Adam Savage (Mythbusters), the panel included producer and star Rebecca Ferguson, co-star Common, Showrunner Graham Yost, and Executive Producer and author of the original book series, Hugh Howey. But the best part was the surprise arrival of Steve Zahn who, it was announced, will be joining the cast for Season 2.

Last season the sheriff of the silo, Juliette (Ferguson) was sent out to clean. Which, in the show’s parlance, means, “sent out to die in the toxic post-apocalyptic landscape”. But following her suspicions that the view of the dead world outside provided to dwellers and the lush view provided to cleaners in their visors was false. And because her suit had been prepared with quality materials, she didn’t die from exposure like other cleaners, allowing her to see the truth. Hers is not the only silo. Instead, it is just one of dozens she can see from her vantage point.
New Silo, New Character
This is only part of Howey’s first novel Wool (which includes two other books Shift and Dust). In the novel Julliette ventures further. And in a clip provided at the panel (but which hasn’t been released yet), it seems she will enter one of these other silos and meet Zhan’s character. If the series continues to follow the novels, this character is likely Zero, the only survivor of a dead silo that suffered a catastrophe years prior.
Zahn, who seems thrilled to join the cast, said his experience on the show was exciting. Particularly working in the complex sets, saying, “Walking into Silo you’re awestruck. Most sets look better on TV. When I walked onto Silo I thought this is HUGE. It was moving.”

A Tale of Two Silos
Graham Yost (Justified, Speed), who returns as showrunner, explained that the storylines for the series will be split. Half of the series will take place in Juliette’s home silo and, one assumes, deal with the fallout of her surviving her cleaning. While the other half of the story will follow Juliette’s journey into the dead silo and her further revelations about the history, nature and (possibly) creators of the silos.
It was also announced that the series will return this year. The first episode of season 2 will drop on November 15, 2024, on Apple TV+. You can currently watch Season 1 on Apple TV+.
