Hugh Howey constructed an epic post-apocalyptic, dystopian, science fiction world with his Silo trilogy. Now, that world is coming to an Apple TV+ account near you. A trailer for the new series just dropped, and life inside the silo is stunningly on display. Here are our thoughts on the trailer and everything we know about the series.
The book series follows the remnants of humanity as they survive in an underground silo. In this society, rules are vital; breaking them has severe consequences. The number one rule is never to talk about going outside the silo. Punishment for breaking that law is exile and death. So, what happens when the sheriff, tasked with upholding order, breaks the number one rule?

The visuals depicted in the trailer are incredible. Viewers are quickly shown one of the main characters, Juliette (Rebecca Ferguson), a mechanic who may be able to save everyone. The few characters introduced in the trailer discuss what is happening outside their safe community and why it is so taboo to talk about it. Juliette notes that among the mechanics, theories always abound. If the cinematography seen in the trailer is any indication of the series itself, viewers are in for a treat.
Silo stars Rebecca Ferguson, Iain Glen, Will Patton, Ferdinand Kingsley, Common, Tim Robbins, Shane McRae, Rick Gomez, David Oyelowo and more. The series premieres on May 5 on Apple TV+.
