One of the hardest things about being a TV fanatic is when the time comes to say goodbye to a favorite show and its characters. Sadly, the recent cruel reality is that many shows don’t make it to the historical 25 seasons on the air. On the contrary, shows are lucky if they make it past two or three seasons. Nevertheless, it’s always hard to say goodbye to a fictional world that welcomed us week after week (or during several binge-watching sessions).
With new seasons right around the corner, viewers are getting ready to say goodbye to some of their most beloved characters. Whether it’s time to say goodbye to New York’s finest family or a stalking sociopath, fans aren’t ready to watch the final episode of their favorite show. But that’s how the fan life goes.
Here are eight shows that will be ending after their next season.

9-1-1: Lone Star (Season 5)
9-1-1: Lone Star entered the world in 2020 as a spin-off to the beloved 9-1-1. The concept was the same: following the stories of 9-1-1 operators and first responders. However, 9-1-1: Lone Star created a path of its own with characters that people came to love beyond LA’s 118. Different stories were brought to life week after week, giving viewers an idea of what life is like for these first responders in Texas.
Not too long ago, viewers were surprised that 9-1-1 had found a new home on ABC. However, the same cannot be said for its spin-off. 9-1-1: Lone Star will end in early 2025. Its fifth season premieres on September 23 on FOX and will run for 12 episodes, allowing viewers to say goodbye.

Blue Bloods (Season 14)
With the social and political climate of the time, most people accuse procedural shows of being copaganda. Viewers could say that one of the longest-running copaganda shows of the decade has been Blue Bloods. The show has repeatedly highlighted the importance of the NYPD and its work. However, it has also had to portray the cruel reality of policing and how it affects civilians.
Whether you agree with the show’s message, no one can deny that the Reagan family has left a mark on TV history. The second half of Season 14 premieres on October 18 on CBS.

Big Mouth (Season 8)
Although Big Mouth focused on the reality of going through puberty, the show found its target audience in young adults. The seven seasons of the show included a well-known group of actors, such as Nick Kroll, John Mulaney, Maya Rudolph and Ayo Edebiri, who helped bring these characters to life.
Now, fans must prepare to say goodbye to some of their favorite animated characters. Although there is no set release date as of yet, Big Mouth will end with its eighth season in 2024.

SEAL Team (Season 7)
If you are one of the many fans watching SEAL Team, we can only hope you are ready for the end. This show, which focuses on the Navy SEALs, will sadly end after Season 7. With eight episodes already available for streaming on Paramount+, fans only have two episodes left to prepare for the goodbye.
However, before saying goodbye, this team must prepare to face a shocking trap after Nazario’s camp. They will have to face this new challenge without Jason (David Boreanaz), who has been given a different mission.

The show brought the funny bone into vampires and gave viewers a different perspective of a creature that is usually one to fear. The Handmaid’s Tale (Season 6)
Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale novel found another way to live on in the Hulu original series. While some believed that was a farfetched reality, the truth came pretty close to fiction. For five seasons, viewers have witnessed the cruel life of women as they were only considered wombs to procreate with. But have also paid attention to the revolution within this fragmented society.
Although there is no release date yet for The Hanmaid’s Tale‘s final season, filming began this month. Rumor has it the show will come to an end with a spring premiere in 2025.

Outlander (Season 8)
Sticking to the books-turned-shows theme, Outlander is also ending with its next season. However, lucky for those fans who are sad about this news, Outlander Season 7 Part 2 will begin airing on November 22. This will give viewers plenty of time to adjust to the idea of having to say goodbye to their favorite time-travelers.
Although there is no release date for the eighth season, rumors say it will be between 2025 and 2026. While filming is set to end in October, the fans will have eight more episodes of Season 7 to hold them over.

You (Season 5)
You became the kind of series viewers didn’t know if they were allowed to love. It is one of those shows centered around a character no one should like. Nevertheless, You found tremendous success, and Joe (Penn Badgley) found a fanbase of viewers who loved to hate him.
The final season of You was filmed between March and August of 2024, so it’s expected to be released on Netflix towards the end of the year. Season 5 will be fans’ last chance to love-hate Joe and figure out if the stalking sociopath makes it out alive in the end.
