DISCLAIMER: This recap and review of Shoresy Season 3 Episode 3, “Vaughan Canadesi,” contains spoilers. Proceed at your peril.
It’s time to set the f*cking tone.
“Vaughan Canadesi” finds our Sudbury Blueberry Bulldogs battling Vaughan Canadesi, the Italian team from Southern Ontario. It might be one of the funniest episodes of the show thus far. It fires on all comedic cylinders, from the opening commercial with the boys to Anik interviewing the team and Jory and Shoresy verbally murdering each other. It’s fun and doesn’t hold back on the hockey violence.
Also, with the NOSHO party referenced in these first three episodes, I wonder if we’ll get something flashback-heavy. I need to know what happened that night!

Shoresy’s “Vaughan Canadesi”
We open with Shoresy (Jared Keeso), Dolo (JoDolo), Hitch (Terry Ryan) and Goody (Andrew Antsanen) filming a commercial for a pickup truck. Nat (Tasya Teles), Ziigwan (Blair Lamora) and Miigwan (Keilani Elizabeth Rose) help the boys film it, offering direction and providing cue cards. “Wow! Check out this half-ton, sporty short-box…” Naturally, shenanigans ensue.
At one point, the ladies order the boys to stop smiling. At another, Shoresy switches places with each of the men as the one leading the dialogue. This might be one of my favorite Shoresy scenes ever. It’s hilarious. I love it when the cast breaks character from Dolo’s over-the-top performance.
Toughness Is Key
Later, BROdude’s Anik (Kim Cloutier) delivers a segment about the National Senior Tournament. The Charlottetown Reds defeated the Brooks Barrelmen with a final score of 3 to 2. Anik chats with Marie-Mai Bouchard, who owns the Les Rapides De Rawdon. Marie-Mai tells Anik that toughness is at the forefront. Intimidation has always worked for her team. She insists that fighting on the ice is crucial for them. Sure enough, the Les Rapides triumph over the SOO hunt, with 3 to 1.

Then, Shoresy makes the by’s eat right since it’s game week. They’re squaring off against Vaughan Canadesi and the dirty Sly Sylvestri. The fellas eat grilled chicken, broccoli and brown rice. Simple yet clean. Big Sexy approves. Goody asks if they’re gonna party hard if they win the whole damn thing. Shoresy shudders to think about this. Remember the NOSHO record party? That was bonkers, boys.
Meanwhile, Laura Mohr (Camille Sullivan) interviews Sly Sylvestri, who brags about how dirty he is on the ice. He asks if anyone in the NOSHO is as dirty as him. Laura smiles at him. (It’s so obviously Shoresy.)
Ziigwan and Gord
Next, Ziig and Miig run into Gorgeous Gord Gallant. He asks if there’s any place to store his seafood from PEI. Miig vows to ask around. The conversation pivots to dating. Miig declares she has a partner (our baby Sanger), but Ziig is single. Gord seems interested in her. Get it, girl.

Shoresy whines about having to go on Jory Jordan’s show. Nat and Miig tell him that giving back to the community is crucial. Then, Miig tells the other two about Ziig and Gord potentially hitting it off. Nat reminds her that they don’t date sluts; they take them down. That’s right.
Later, Shoresy winds up on Jory Jordan’s (Maclean Fish) show, Sudbury Kids Sports Report. Jory and Shoresy trade barbs as only men of sports can do. Then, the camera starts rolling. Jory doles out a few insults on the air, including a cutting remark about Shoresy looking older (and tired) in person. Of course, Jory had to wrap it up with a comment about erectile dysfunction. Shoresy sits there in stony silence, refusing to answer a single question.
Never Misses the Mark
Then, Anik interviews Dolo for BROdude. Dolo introduces her to the Jims (Jon Mirasty, Brandon Nolan and Jordan Nolan). Look at those beauties. He also introduces Anik to Sanguinet (Harlan Kytwayhat) and takes her into the locker room. She asks Hitch about what her hockey nickname would be. She even chats with “Never Misses the Mark” Michaels (Ryan McDonell). While she talks to Fish (Jacob Smith), our titular mother-loving chirper hurls a few sharp-edged comments the latter’s way.

Next, it’s time to battle Vaughan Canadesi. The boys witness firsthand how dirty Sly Sylvestri can be. Shoresy gets his fair share of chirps, calling out number 98 on the opposing team. At one point, Sylvestri knocks the two front teeth out of one of the Bulldogs. Shoresy checks him out, noting he still has “a bunch in there.” This line made me giggle. As the great Shore says, “Go till you can’t go no more.”
Then, the Bulldogs unleash the Jims, who go to town on the Vaughan Canadesi players. A bona fide fight breaks out on the ice, with the Bulldogs holding their own against their competitor. As of now, the Bulldogs are winning 4 to 0. Anik interviews Shoresy, who says, “Never let ’em know you hurt.” We know he should’ve taken 4-6 since he can’t push while taking a sh*t…
Frankie Drama
After his chat with Anik, Shoresy limps away. He stumbles upon JJ Frankie JJ (Max Bouffard) arguing with Marie-Mai, his ex-fiancée. Shoresy confronts Frankie, wondering why he’s not playing with the team. They’re about to win everything. Frankie storms off. Marie-Mai explains that they used to be engaged, and now Frankie wants her back. He’s still in love with her. So, she told Frankie she didn’t want him. After that, he started subtweeting about her, and the tweets were pretty sad.

Marie-Mai insists that even Quebec girls don’t lust after Frankie anymore. Shoresy asks about Laurence Leboeuf, his former lady. According to Marie-Mai, she dumped Frankie after a big shindig thrown by the Bulldogs. Could it be the NOSHO record party? Marie-Mai remarks that a lot of rumors are circulating about that night. She asks Shoresy what happened as he gets that 1,000-yard stare going.
Shoresy Season 3 is now streaming on Hulu.
