DISCLAIMER: This recap of Shoresy Season 2 Episode 1, “Get’em Focused,” contains spoilers. Proceed at your peril.
You ready? Good, ’cause you’re goin’. Shoresy is back with a solid premiere, and I suggest you let that one marinate. It lays a strong foundation for what’s to come this season, catapulting the stakes into the stratosphere as the Bulldogs work extra hard to break a league record. Plus, the Americans are coming, which means sh*t will hit the fan.
All in all, it’s a fun episode that’s less about jokes/wordplay and more about moving the narrative along. That said, it still has a smattering of that dirty, witty Letterkenny charm we know and love.
Ready to delve into “Get’em Focused”? Let’s get to it.

We open with Nat (Tasya Teles) asking Shoresy (Jared Keeso) what he plans to do to ensure the Sudbury Bulldogs win it all. He looks at the weights in front of him. Does this mean our fave foul-mouthed, mother-loving hockey player will finally hit the gym? Then, we see our Bulldogs win big on the ice. They pose for a photo with their trophy. Nat, Miigwan (Keilani Elizabeth Rose) and Ziigwan (Blair Lamora) join the festivities. A large banner with the Bulldogs logo and “NOSHO Championship 2022” on it. Look at these winners! They’re almost as beautiful, collectively, as the Jims.
Then, we see a segment from BROdude’s Questionable Call featuring Anik (Kim Cloutier), Tessa Bonhomme, Jay Onrait and RA (Brian McGonagle). They discuss the Bulldogs’ successes and the best chirps of the season. Apparently, Shoresy was tough on the guys when the team was on the bottom, but he’s even worse while trying to keep them on the top.
Additionally, the Questionable Call crew hints at the Americans getting involved in the NOSHO Championship this season. I’d like to see Shoresy go toe-to-toe with the Yankees. Meanwhile, Shoresy and Sanguinet (Harlan Blayne Kytwayhat) chat about the team with Nat, Miigwan and Ziigwan. They’re becoming distracted by all the hot ladies of Sudbury. Well, not Sanguinet. He’s dating Miigwan now. Aren’t they absolutely adorable?

Shoresy claims the sexy calendar shoot they did will return to bite them in the ass. It boosted their egos too much. Anyway, Nat orders Sanguinet and Shoresy to keep the boys in line. As the Questionable Call crew noted earlier, do the Bulldogs want to be the best team in the league or the best team ever? Side note: I love that the “Hot Girls of Sudbury” Instagram has one comment that says, “YEWWWWW.” Nice Letterkenny nod.
Later, Shoresy relays what Nat told him to his roommates, Dolo (Jonathan-Ismaël Diaby), Goody (Andrew Antsanen) and Hitchcock (Terry Ryan). He declares they need to lay off the hotties for a spell. It’s proving to be a distraction. Then, they all go on a tangent to prove who’s uglier, Hitchcock or Shoresy, before JJ Frankie JJ’s (Max Bouffard) walks past, bringing with him a faint smell of spaghetti carbonara. Big Sexy calls him a “tit f*cker.”
Then, Nat, Ziigwan and Miigwan hatch a game plan for their next moves. Sure, now they have 50 butts in seats, but you know what sounds better? 75. Perhaps they can also focus on getting more kids to attend the games, too. That night, the boys prepare to face off against the Timberkings. Shoresy’s excited to put the Apeldoorns in their place. In the locker room, Shoresy and the guys discuss whether their calendar shoot would’ve fared better if they removed their tarps. But hey, at least the Jims (Jon Mirasty, Brandon Nolan, Jordan Nolan) look good regardless.

Side note: in case you’re an American (like me) and wondering what the hell Reach for the Top is, it’s a Canadian academic quiz show for high school students that premiered in 1961. Once on the ice, Shoresy gets death threats from one of the Apeldoorns. However, he never loses his ability to chirp with the best of ’em. It’s an art form.
Meanwhile, Cory (Bourke Cazabon) and Liam (Keegan Long) film the game while in the stands. Sanguinet rallies his team in the locker room and selects who will take to the ice. Now, it’s officially game time. Later in the game, Nat, Miigwan and Ziigwan overhear Shoresy going to town on the Bulldogs. Unfortunately, they’re losing. We see him slap sticks out of the guys’ hands. Sticks are for winners, y’all. That includes you, Fish (Jacob Smith).
After Shoresy rips everyone a new one, the boys hit up the pub for some lady time. Miigwan, Nat and Ziigwan observe from afar. They notice that Michaels (Ryan McDonell) doesn’t have a hottie. He’s standing by himself and drinking. We’ve heard them hint at him acting strangely all episode, with the knee-jerk response that he’s merely weird because he’s a goalie. I’m sure we’ll get more context on Michaels later. Ziigwan admits that despite being an annoying jerk (I’m putting it nicely), at least Shoresy is committed to cleaning up the team. The others must decide if they’re up to the challenge … because the Americans are coming.
The episode ends with the American team running outside. This is a pretty cool shot.
