She's the Hero Gotham Needs in Debut BATWOMAN Trailer

Today, The CW gave fans a taste of what’s to come in the upcoming Batwoman series with it’s first trailer. The highly anticipated series won’t debut until fall but this first look quickly sets the tone we can expect. Kate Kane (Ruby Rose) is ready – are you?

The trailer immediately confirms that Bruce Wayne is missing and that Batman has abandoned Gotham City. In his stead is a new police force called ‘Crows Security’, ready to take swift justice on crime. However, there’s a new threat in town and she’s ready for her close up. Crime lord Alice (Rachel Skarsten) has taken a high level Crows Security officer hostage, Sophie Moore (Meagan Tandy). Unluckily for her, Kate Kane is informed and realizing that her former flame is in trouble, she dons her cousin’s Bat suit to take action.

Given that the footage is all likely from the pilot episode, it’s immediately promising. They’ve established very quickly that she is a proud woman and they’re not shying away from the fact that she is a lesbian. Hell to the yes for this representation! It also appears (or rather implied) that they are going to have Alice be the sister of Kate so I can’t wait to see how that plays out as well. The big question is – the suit may look awesome but will Rose be able to handle the mantle? We’ll have to wait and see. The debut is far away so this first look will tide us over till then.
