It’s a sad day for fans of the Grishaverse, so grab your closest Milo and hug them close. Deadline dropped exclusive news that Netflix’s adaptation of Leigh Bardugo‘s Shadow and Bone will not be renewed. Glamorous, Agent ElvisFarzar and Captain Fall join them on the chopping block. The strikes played a heavy role in Netflix’s decisions while they examined how well each series performed.

Freshman series like Glamorous, Agent ElvisFarzar and Captain’s Fall struggle to hold onto viewership due to long gaps between seasons. However, Shadow and Bone already had two seasons and a strong following to back it up. However, season two of the series failed to have the same impact on viewers as season one. Tie that in with the potential delay on season three, Netflix felt the need to shift its focus elsewhere.

It’s a shame that season two of Shadow and Bone left so many open plot points. We were hopeful they would be answered in season three. And while many of us already have the books and know the story, Netflix has made adjustments to the story that steer away from the source material. We are heading into uncharted waters, and now we will never know what happens next unless someone else decides to save the series. We are allowed to hope.

Unfortunately, this does not seem to be the end of cancelation announcements. As Netflix and other streaming services pick back up post-strike, we will surely get more upsetting news. Our next big question within the Grishaverse is if Netflix still plans on moving forward with the Six of Crows spin-off series featuring Freddy Carter, Amita Suman and Kit Young. They could still tie up several plotlines while giving us something new.
