Tavern Talk Thursday: September Kickstarters To Keep an Eye On

Julia Roth

Welcome to Tavern Talk Thursday! We are expanding! What started as a column dedicated to chatting with members of the TTRPG community is growing to talk about all things TTRPG. We aim to continue sharing all the things we love about the community and all the content within. So, consider this a little peek into our favorite worlds and creators as we explore everything we love.

The chill is finally in the air, and it’s time to break out sweaters, pumpkin-flavored everything and have some quiet time. This month, we are excited to share a few TTRPG-related Kickstarters that are great for single-player and two-player gameplay. Enjoy diving into the world beneath the cute farm you bought or deep down under the sea. Whether you want something to spice up your next home game or a new adventure to enjoy, we have something for everyone to check out.

September Kickstarters to Keep an Eye On

The Living Maze

Kicking off this month’s list is Crow Brain Games’ The Living Maze. This single-player game feels rogue-lite and features dice rolling as the player dives deep into dungeons. Gameplay mixes in cards to help keep replay capability high. The game starts as players buy their piece of beautiful land that happens to be sitting on a maze of madness and ancient evil. Will you be able to survive what’s down below?

DeepWars – Abyssal Doom

Next is AntiMatter Games’ DeepWars – Abyssal Doom. This is a tabletop miniatures game set in a deep sea research station. And we all know how scary the things under the sea can be. The game is a follow-up to AntiMatter Games’ DeepWars – Sunken Citadel. It focuses on campaign-style gameplay that allows two players to work together to uncover the secrets of what is happening below.

Sefirot

Our final Kickstarter to watch this month is Causa Creations’ Sefirot. This award-winning Tarot board game is returning with improved rules and more. It features one to two-player gameplay with unique mechanics that make gameplay feel smooth. Our favorite thing is the artstyle. It’s whimsical and ethereal and a must-have on everyone’s game shelf. So whether you want it for the art or for the fun, you shouldn’t pass this up.
