This is really unfortunate for fans. The Wachowski’s beloved Netflix show Sense8 has been cancelled. The diverse and represented show followed 8 strangers who became “sensates”, people who are emotionally and mentally linked to one another. While fans cried out to not pull the plug, the streaming giant has called it off.

After it’s second season, the sci-fi show was able to amass 23 episodes spanning over 16 cities in 13 countries. If that’s not diversity, I don’t know what is. The show was beloved not only for it’s national diversity but it’s LGBTQ representation.

The hashtag #RenewSense8 had been trending but Netflix decided to push ahead with other shows They cancelled not only this show but The Get Down, a musical drama series focused on teens in the Bronx. Netflix’s Cindy Holland, the VP of original content, released a statement regarding the cancellation.

After 23 episodes, 16 cities and 13 countries, the story of the Sense8 cluster is coming to an end. It is everything we and the fans dreamed it would be: bold, emotional, stunning, kick ass, and outright unforgettable. Never has there been a more truly global show with an equally diverse and international cast and crew, which is only mirrored by the connected community of deeply passionate fans all around the world. We thank Lana, Lilly, Joe and Grant for their vision, and the entire cast and crew for their craftsmanship and commitment
