Brellies, the news is true. According to Deadline, Netflix renewed the beloved and critically lauded The Umbrella Academy for Season 4. Unfortunately, this fourth season will be the show’s last. If you need to take time to cry it out, we understand.

Season 3 premiered on the mega-streamer on June 22, 2022, with 10 new episodes. Its season finale, “Oblivion,” ended on quite the cliffhanger. After Allison strikes a deal with Reginald Hargreeves, our protagonists wind up in a timeline wherein they don’t have superpowers. Luther notices his wife Sloane is MIA, and Allison returns to California to find her daughter Claire and her husband from the 1960s timeline Raymond waiting for her.

Meanwhile, Reginald stands in a Lex Luthor-style, lavish tower with his formerly dead wife, Abigail, by his side. He rules the world!

Deadline reports the show’s third season spent five weeks in the Top 10 and clocked in at number one in Netflix’s English language TV weekly ratings. Fans have watched 124.5 million hours of the season.

As shared by Deadline, the fourth season “has been largely written.” Steve Blackman, who adapted the series for television from the comic book series created by Gerard Way and Gabriel Bá, will return to the helm as executive producer and showrunner. Blackman recently inked an overall deal with Netflix under his new banner, Irish Cowboy. Said deal includes two new series developments — Horizon Zero Dawn and Orbital

Here’s what Blackman told fans regarding the upcoming fourth and final season:

“I’m so excited that the incredibly loyal fans of The Umbrella Academy will be able to experience the fitting end to the Hargreeves siblings’ journey we began five years ago. But before we get to that conclusion, we’ve got an amazing story ahead for season four, one that will have fans on the edge of their seats until the final minutes.”

Returning for Season 4 are the series leads, including Elliot Page (Viktor), Tom Hopper (Luther), David Castañeda (Diego), Emmy Raver-Lampman (Allison), Robert Sheehan (Klaus), Justin H. Min (Ben), Aidan Gallagher (Number Five), Ritu Arya (Lila Pitts) and Colm Feore (Reginald).

As sad as I am, Brellies, I’m excited to embark on this final journey with our chaotic, lovable crew. If last season’s cliffhanger is anything to go by, Season 4 will be a nonstop thrill ride. What are your theories for Season 4? Sound off in the comments below!
