A Wave of SpongeBob SquarePants

There was no room for a Krabby Patty on the studio’s plate, as it’s currently crowded with several SpongeBob-related projects. The panel included an exclusive clip of the upcoming movie Saving Bikini Bottom: The Sandy Cheeks Movie. The film drops on Netflix on August 2. And there was also a first look at the one-hour special SpongeBob SquarePants Kreepaway Kamp, which will stream on both Nickelodeon and Paramount+. You can peep those below.

But the main attraction was a surprise appearance by Mark Hamill. Hamill announced he will voice the character of The Flying Dutchman, a gruff ghost-pirate who squares off against SpongeBob in the upcoming theatrical feature The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants. That film is slated to hit theatres on December 19, 2025.

SpongeBob

It’s the 25th anniversary of SpongeBob SquarePants. In celebration, the crowd in Hall H was treated to a live table read of the original pilot which aired in 1999. The whole gang was there including Tom Kenny (Spongebob), Bill Fagerbakke (Patrick), Carolyn Lawrence (Sandy), Rodger Bumpass (Squidward), Clancy Brown (Mr. Krabs), and Mr.  Lawrence (Plankton). Also in attendance were executive producers Marc Ceccarelli and Vincent Waller. As the cast read through the script, original art and drawings from the episode were projected on the large screens behind them.
